any trumpet experts?

Bit of a long shot but does anyone know about trumpets?
DS has just asked for one for his bday next week and I would love to get him one as he never asks for presents. Trumpet teacher and handy friend that owns music shop are both away for easter so no help there. DS1 has a yamaha something but has been really bad for sticky valves despite being expensive.
There is a Stagg one on ebay, goes in 2hrs, buy it now £70 brand new. Any one know anything about these?
Thanks

Personally I wouldn't buy an instrument on Ebay. I worked in a music shop for 2 years and I haven't heard of Stagg. I would say pass on this one.

I've heard of Stagg, a friend of mine has a Stagg trumpet and it's a good one, but I wouldn't buy an instrument from anywhere that I couldn't try it out first.

Never heard of Stagg either
DS one is a silver YAMAHA it is above the base model though, and was approx £200
IMHO I would wait for friend and teacher then ask them

but his birthday is tuesday and the birthday bunny will have failed if it doesnt get here by then
Thanks-that was my concern about ebay/instruments really. Never heard of Stagg.
WWB-trying it out would be a bit lost on me! All I notice with ds1's is that it sounds particularly awful when the valve is stuck!

I would go to a reputable music shop where you will get proper advice. My friend is a peri trumpet teacher and buys instruments for his pupils only from music shops. Whatever the price.

I could CAT the details of our music shop if you like?
where abouts in country are you?

Would defo start on a Cornet, not a Trumpet. Much easier to get a sound AND cheaper!!

I would second the cornet advice, trumpets are longer and can be difficult for a small person to hold up.
