what's the little strap on the handle for? I've seen them on a few pushchairs, Bugaboo have them as well I think. My friend claims they're for you to thread on to your wrist when you're pushing your pushchair so someone can't run up to you, grab your pushchair and run off with your baby, but I've seen people using them as toddler wrist straps which seems more likely. Is there an official purpose for them?

I have one on my buggy and it says I should be wearing it all the time so I guess it's to avoid someone stealing the pushchair, or to stop it rolling away from you if you let go.

I've always wondered what that was for! I get my toddler to hold onto it when he's walking and i'm pushing ds2 in the P&T.

I was told in Mthercare that it was because these pushchairs were originally designed for joggers/runners so the strap is to keep chair attached to you when out jogging

Oh I see, so my friend was almost right. I just thought she was being paranoid cos they've just moved to London from the countryside and she was terrified of muggers. It's not very hilly in my part of South London so I might try and get ds to get used to holding on to it so I don't have to do that awkward bent sideways walk whilst holding toddlers hand and pushing pram with other hand.

just to echo that its to stop pushchair running away from you down a hill

HeadFairy · 07/01/2009 12:39

Blimey does that mean I have to start running again now? I haven't so much as broken in to a light jog for nearly 2 years
