Cheap, small stroller - any ideas

I have a Bugaboo Gecko at the moment, which I love. I don't drive during the week, so we very rarely need to put it in the car (we generally use a sling if we are going out). In a couple of months we're going on holiday with my parents and so boot space is very limited. The sling won't do for the whole holiday.

Can anyone recommend a good, very cheap stroller that folds down really small? I've seen ones that fold down like an umbrella which would be perfect. DD will be 9 months at the time of the holiday.

Thanks in advance

Hello!

We've noticed this thread is quite old and some of the product recommendations are a little out of date. We've spent weeks speaking to parents and testing out buggies. Here is a round-up of the models we believe are the best on the market, including a couple of cheap buggies too.

Hope that helps! Flowers.

You are thinking of the Quinny Zapp but they are not quite as cheap as maybe I am thinking you want to spend! Don't know of any others which fold as small.

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 05/01/2009 15:09

Yeah, the Zapp is probably a bit too much. Mothercare have some basic ones for about £34.99 (iirc), but I don't know how good those are?

They are terrible awful pushchairs, very poor quality. I really struggled with buggies after having a bugaboo as you really notice the difference in quality!!

The zia is very like the zapp but with a recline but is very flimsy but if it is just for a week away. How about maclarens? I do find them a bit rattly but now having had 4 I have grown to like them! Boots.com did have loads in their sale, the quest is good for holidays or the volo is super super light (I leave mine in the car) but there is no recline.

Silver cross pop are also very good for holiday and pretty cheap, have just sold my immaculate one to another mnetter for 40 pounds.

argos have got a cosatto one half price for £30 which should be fine for a holiday

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 07/01/2009 12:27

Thanks for those recommendations! I'll check out Argos for the Cosatto. I confess that I've been quite keen on the Silver Cross Pop - I wanted a Silver Cross buggy but chose the Bugaboo in the end because it's a bit more practical for us. I'll have to see if I can find a second hand one somewhere

I have this one which I'm sure was cheaper than this. It's still going strong after 2.5 years of solid use.
