I always need new lids too - so I will watch carefully

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 26/12/2008 20:52

I thought I'd seen them in our local Tesco Extra. Will have a check next time I'm there

SleighGirl · 26/12/2008 20:53

I'll check my local tesco too if you want?

WhileShosheWatchedHerFlocks · 26/12/2008 21:06

oh please don't say they have been discontinued, I have about a dozen and they all need new lids!

thisisyesterday · 26/12/2008 21:09

they're really bad for children's teeth, so maybe that's why they're being discontinued?? not enough demand any more?

nicolamumof3 · 27/12/2008 07:49

I can't see why they are bad for their teeth unless they are constantly sucking on sugary drinks?

Thanks moreorganised and sleighgirl we don't have a big tesco here, will be much appreciated tho xx

I randomly found some in our local poundland - tho the next time there weren't any. I agree - mine only have water in them and neither dd has anything wrong with her teeth. They're fantastically useful, but I;ve had difficulty getting hold of them since leaving Ireland. I did bit the bullet and get some off Amazon just because I couldn't face life without them!

thisisyesterday · 27/12/2008 20:35

it's because the valve on them is quite difficult to suck through. so the force they need can actually affect the shape of the developing jaw.
most valve cups have similar problems, but as I recall the anyway-up cup was found to be particularly problematic.

nothing to do with the contents of the cup at all.

you're recommended to use a free-flow cup for this reason.

Meglet · 28/12/2008 21:31

oh crap, I never knew that anyway-ups might be a problem. DS is 2 and we always use them when we're out the house or for his cot. He uses other free flowing cups as sprinklers and tips the contents everywhere. he only has water in them though.

nicolamumof3 · 28/12/2008 21:41

i used them for ds1 who's now 10 no problems with him! ds2 is three and no problems either...so far?!!

Don't use them myself but do sometimes use the cow cup and they seem to have same distributor here They sent me a replacement cover for my cup when it broke so maybe they would be able to supply replacement lids?? Might be worth a phone call.

nicolamumof3 · 03/01/2009 13:52
