Need 2nd car seat for emergency pick up - Recommendation?

Hi y'all,
DS2 is about to go into his 2nd car seat (9m - 4yr) and we have a Maxi-cosi from DS2 which is in very good condition. However, as DS2 goes to nursery, and I don't want to have to take the car seat out of the car every day, we need one to leave at home in case we get stuck on the trains and GPs need to do pick up.

Don't want to pay out a fortune as it may never get used and the nursery is 1.5 miles from my home. Any suggestions??

no specific recommendations, but personally I wouldn't buy a cheap car seat just because it was only for occasional use.
if i wasn't happy using it regularly then i wouldn't be happy using it irregularly either.
does that make sense???
you could still have an accident and you would still need a decent seat.

we ended up paying for 2 decent ones so that GP's could have a spare in their car

Hi thisisyesterday

Yes I know what you mean, but as this may never get used, I don't care if it's a pretty colour, is easy to remove the cover, reclines, has bells and whistles etc. as long as it's safe. Surely not every car seat that cost less that £130 is unsafe?

Any reccomendations for a more basic seat gratefully recieved.

dunno, check the which reports? someone on here may have access to them,, I know the maxi cosi ones usually seem to come out top.

i can't remember which other ones were there, but they do all seem to be the expensive ones

this is the one that my CM uses. Don't know much about it safety wise but she has 3 of them, they are easy enough to fit and the children seem comfortable in them
