Smallest, most lightweight umbrella pushchair for getting from A to B in airport?

I have 16mo DTs and am flying longhaul with them (and DH) next week. We have a double buggy in situ at our destination and so I am really just after two unbrella pushchairs to be used in the airport. Really don't need any frills at all, just go forward and be very lightweight as we'll already be carrying quite a lot onto the plane.

Any suggestions?

When we went to america we chose the Maclaren volo as it was the lightest we could find and has a shoulder carry strap.

misdee · 18/12/2008 21:03

mac volo definatly.

nicolamumof3 · 18/12/2008 21:06

another vote for volo here!!! they are on sale at £45 on mothercare i think??

nicolamumof3 · 18/12/2008 21:07

oh but you won't get to carry ANY umbrella fold onto the plane? they will let you take it right up until boarding but will then go into hold, so you won't have any buggy til luggage comes through?

dairymoo · 18/12/2008 21:07

Thanks but a maclaren (well, 2 x!) is really too much than we want to spend as we already have 3 buggies - is there not anything cheaper and more disposable?

Yep, and I know we won't be able to carry onto the plane - but we'll have a long wait before boarding and I don't fancy carrying a 25lb baby for the two hours before the flight!

misdee · 18/12/2008 21:14

thisisyesterday · 18/12/2008 21:15

you want something like this one actually

misdee · 18/12/2008 21:15

lol

Washersaurus · 18/12/2008 21:20

Why not buy them those trunki cases and pull em about the airport?

nicolamumof3 · 18/12/2008 21:21

that pink ones great for £15 and it has swivel wheels, ok if you have girls

thisisyesterday · 18/12/2008 21:25

yeah you can get blue versions of that pink one, but not on kiddicare apparently.

tesco used to sell tyhem, might still do.
or argos?

forkhandles · 18/12/2008 21:31

why don't you put a 'wanted' on Freecycle and see if anyone has a stroller that they can give you - you might get one if your lucky!

singingtree · 18/12/2008 21:33

I've taken our umbrella stroller onto a plane before (overhead lockers), but admittedly we were only allowed to do that once

misdee · 18/12/2008 21:35

its not going to scar a 16month old boy for life if he goes in a pink stroller for a couple of hours

nicolamumof3 · 18/12/2008 21:37

i agree misdee doesn't bother me, as a mum of three boys!!

ilovelovemydog · 18/12/2008 21:38

quinny zap?

dairymoo · 18/12/2008 21:40

Wow - loads of replies! thisisyesterday - that's ideal, thanks! And £15 - perfect.
They are girls so the pink won't be a problem! Thanks all - think I'll try freecycle too.
Trunki case would be the best idea though - that way we wouldn't have to hear their squealing commentary either .

nicolamumof3 · 18/12/2008 21:46

great price! but think the fixed wheels would drive me nuts!

thisisyesterday · 18/12/2008 21:51
