Face?
I use oil of Olay (not the lotion, the day cream for dry skin).
Simple do some good ones too. Neither have ever made me have a reaction - and I will react to a cream if anyone will!

thanks yeah face.

do you believe cleansing toning and moisturising is a big con? im asking all this for my friend as she has really sensitive skin and has tried lost of different things for sensitive skin but has become quite spotty the last few months and doesn't know what else to try. she always cleanses tones and moisturises but nothing stops the spots!

Ah, yes I suffer from the odd spotty rash too!
I use those facial wipes instead of cleansing / toning, but then again I'm lazy like that!
If she can afford it then Clarins and Lancome do some great moisturisers that really helped to sort my skin out.
Think it is M&S that do a clarins style moisturiser (made by the same people at a fraction of the price if you believe the hype!) Infact, think I'll pop in and check out their moisturisers too

Gods honest truth!

Aldi's own.

Someone reccommended it to me on here because I have bad eczema and awfully sensitive skin, it was blind tested on This morning and in a few magazines and all of them said it was up there with the £40 a tub lancome stuff.

juicychops · 16/12/2008 13:43

might have to try aldi then!!!

she uses clinique stuff at the moment which is supposedly for sensitive skin but smells really strong (chemicals!) has anyone ever tried clinique stuff and thought it was good or bad?

olive oil!

DorrisMcWenceslas · 16/12/2008 13:46

Clinique didn't suit my skin at all. It used to when I was younger, but not after I passed 30

HolidaysQueen · 16/12/2008 13:48

i love dermalogica stuff. i have sensitive and dry skin, and their intensive moisture balance makes my skin lovely and smooth and soft.

HolidaysQueen · 16/12/2008 13:48

littlefrog is right though - olive oil is fab. we use it on DS (8mo) a lot as London water plays havoc with his skin and it is great.

I will just whisper this so no one hears - I never put anything on my face bar warm water! Someone told me to do this when I was 16ish and I have kept to it all my life since. Result? No spots, dry patches or grease. I do have some wrinkles now but my actual skin is fine. I was given a facial as a gift once and my skin felt so tight afterwards and then it broke out in plooks. Only other time I have trouble is if wearing sunscreen so I use very little and keep in the shade.

Yes, Juicy Chops, the whole faceroutine thingy is a big (and very lucrative) CON.

Vaseline intensive care moisturiser, have used it for years and have the youthful skin of a teenager, ok early 20s .

Lather in on before bed and use less in the morning. Had really bad exema just on my face and was recommended this and have never looked back and wouldn't use anything else.

Avene is the best range I have found for my very senstive skin. It is cheaper than Dermalogica or Clarins and is much gentler on sore, inflamed skin. You can buy it in larger Boots branches. The calming moisturiser and cold cream gel cleanser do what they say they will. I tried Clinque a few years ago and ended with a severe allergic rash that took weeks to go away.

mincepiemadness · 18/12/2008 21:28

Nivea Visage do a lovely cream for sensitive skin. It's about £7 a pop and just as good as the lovely gel cream I used to buy from Chanel. Tell her to stop toning, the alcohol is awful for the skin. A good product to cleanse and exfoliate with is Eve Lom, fantastic stuff. Pricey at £40-ish but lasts ages.

If she is spotty and mid twenties or older might be worth trip to GP as spots might be linked to polycystic ovaries.

I have sensitive skin and find that plain E45 cream or vaseline on dry patches (I get them round my nose) seems the least offensive.
Recently tried Simple Derma cream in the tube, which did make my skin look great, but I think I slightly reacted to it so have shelved that.
Have recently been using Dove for sensive skin for cleansing, which seems pretty good, don't usually use soap on my face, but it wasn't very drying and no outbreaks or allergic reactions so far.
I noticed when I bought the derma that Oilatum have a new facial cream for sensitive skin, which was more expensive than the Simple, but might be good.
Also really nice, but pricey are Dr. Hauschka (sp?) quince day cream and rose day cream, neither of which caused a reaction in my skin, and do last all day.
Sorry for the hijack, but on the topic - has anyone tried AVEENO cream? It looks really good based on oatmilk, but don't want to waste money on something like that.

Thanks Hana, I have seen Aveeno in my local Boots, so might check that out.
It's quite a small store, so quite surprising that they have it.
Which Simple do you use at night? Does that include cleansing?
