If so, are you pleased/happy with it?

Is that the shallow one with the alphabet on the front? We have one for DS and we love it. He can get a book out without knocking all the other books onto the floor, and he finds it easy to put the books back too.

That's the one bran. Do you really get 85 books in it as claimed and if so does your ds still find the books behind the other books ok?

I'm not sure if there are 85, but there are lots. I think to get 85 they would all have to be thin paperbacks, like Mr Men or The Gruffalo, and some of DS's are quite big hardbacks. He can find the books that are behind because he can flop the front ones forwards or slide them aside, but obviously that gets harder to do the fuller each shelf gets, and it quite difficult to do for the top shelf as he is a short-arse.

It's much better than a traditional shelf, we have an ordinary shelf in the sitting room and he can't tell one book from another without pulling it out and that makes others fall on the floor. The Tidy Books thingy also takes up much less floor space, I think that doesn't really show in their photos.

I've just had a quick count, and he has 34 thin-ish books on the top shelf, so it's quite possible to get 85 on altogether I should think.

just to say you can sometimes find these on offer - cheaper then buying direct anyway.

We have one of these and think it is great - easy for ds (3.4) to get books in and out of and also for him to see what is there. Would definitely recommend it.

Ooooh where should I look to find these on offer?

Yes, it is fab. Great for young ones to see the books, rather than have them spine on.

If you arrange them carefully you can fit lots of books in (haven't counted exact no).

we have homemade shelves using 1x1 for the bottom and sides and thin ply for the front, can make them any size and put up where needed. We painted them the same colour as the walls. Work really well.
My mum used to have similar at school, but just had a bottom piece of thin wood, with a piece of beading wood along the front, and a piece of plastic covered wire (for net curtains) on hooks a couple of inches higher to keep the books against the wall.

we have one of these for ds. we bought one in plain white as someone suggested that he could then use it when he is older for cds etc. Love it!

keepplodding · 14/12/2008 12:21

bump - anyone know of anywhere you can get these that isn't super dooper expensive?

bodiddly · 14/12/2008 14:20

I don't I am afraid ... gltc used to do them and they may have a discount offer on so it may be worth a look. Vertbaudet do their own smaller versions of these I believe ... at least they did last year.
