Jamies Olivers - dinners book

Anyone brought the Jamies Olivers dinners book???

If so what sort of receipes are in it.

Have a few of his books but my mum mentioned this one so thought i;d ask you lot before i go spend.

Yes, I've got it - really like it. The food is pretty simple - which I like! - but yummy. It's very 'family' and kids-oriented.

It has a section on 'top ten dinners' - i.e. sausages and mash, lasagne etc but really good-quality versions of them. Also useful chapter on basics like making a good tomato sauce, pesto etc and then lots of different things to do with those basics.

Never thought I'd buy a JO book, let alone recommend it...

I got it today so haven't cooked anything from it yet but it looks great. I have two of his other books and find them very inspirational - he's just so enthusiastic! It's very much a "lifestyle" book, rather than just a recipe book - but I like that, I like all the pictures of him, Jules, and the kids and his lovely house [emny]

Yes, perhaps it's more 'man looking attractive because of cute small child on his knee' than anything animalistic.

His fish pie from one of the earlier books is really, really good. I find some of his recipes come up a bit bland though - almost too simple?
Couldn't fancy him though, that big dribbly tongue!

There is an excellent beef cassrerole in it - full of red wine - that I have made for DH, and my parents. They all thought it was yummy (I don't eat meat so no idea).

The lasagne lasted 5 minutes when I made it. Silence as dst and dh troughed it down. So I would say it was a success!

Haven't tried any other recipes as yet but I use one book per week to make life simple so Jamie's Dinners will get a proper turn soon!

I used the lasagne one too. Also the sausage and mash one and the American chop salad. Its all going down very well in our house. I've certainly thrown out all the chicken nuggets in our house now after seeing his programme!

I got it for Christmas and have used it quite a bit. The slow cooked lamb (in a bottle of red wine) is bloody gorgeous, but it takes four hours to cook and the cooking smells are so nice it's almost painful to have to wait.

There are a few very quick tasty recipes for one too which I've made when DH has been away.
