Baby bjorn carrier - room to breathe!

I've got a carrier where my (7 week old) DS is held against me, facing in towards me with his head in my breast. However, he won't turn his head to the side and literally buries his head into my breast, so I'm constantly worried about whether he can breathe. His nose gets completely buried in my top/breasts.

I was thinking of getting a flat piece of cardboard and putting it between us so there's nothing soft for his nose and mouth to 'sink' into!

Also, his hands and feet end up really cold, though his face and body are really warm. He won't keep on mittens and socks don't seem to cut it - any ideas?

He won't sufocate! But I really wouldn't recommend a Babybjorn to anyone. It will wreck your back. Have you thought about using a wrap? They are so simple to use, I was put off them with dd as they looked complicated but having used them with ds there is no contest. As for socks, put him in tights instead! Or find him some lovely soft leather shoes to keep his socks on. I am about to order these for ds. DD had some and they are indestructible. With a wrap theres also no need to worry about cold hands as they are snuggled right in to you.

We've got a sling as well, but I found it pretty uncomfortable - DH prefers to use that though. I'm happy enough with the comfort of the carrier, I just worry constantly when I'm using it. How do you know he won't suffocate?!
