VW Touran - which pushchair/buggy will fit across boot?

We have a Touran which is great for fitting all three kids + a friend in. However, my new prob is that if I have a friend in the boot ie one of the boot seats is up, I cant get the Mac Techno in as its too long!!
Its really annoying and its been so wet and muddy lately that Im forcing it in getting mud on the ceiling and the back of the seats. Thinking about buying a replacementbuggy as ds3 is only 7mths and could therefore just about justify it!!. I think we had a similar prob when we had a Zafira but didnt have 3 kids at that stage so rarely used the back seats.

A quinny zapp folds up really small, and it's easier to push than the cheap and rubbish but small enough to fit in 15 quid thing I bought in Argos back in the summer when we had a similar problem when my niece and her friend were staying - I think it was a Hauck something or other (I gave it away so I can't double check).

hi Roskva, thanks for that. Isnt a quinny zapp a funny thing with a back that doesnt adjust? I think I might have rejected it because of its strange wheels and very wide wheel base. How old is your little one - do you use it as a main pushchair?
Has anybody else got a touran with a buggy? Why do maclarens have to be quite so long!!

Yes, the quinny is a funny thing that doesn't recline. I don't think the wheel base is wider than my silver cross pop - but the zapp just seems wider because it's a 3 wheeler and the front is narrow. The quinny buzz is much wider. My ds is only 9 weeks, so he's in his maxi cosi car seat on the zapp chassis atm. The main thing I don't like is that it's not stable enough to hang shopping on the handles. The lack of recline was never an issue with dd (now out of buggies and on her feet) as she never ever slept in the buggy.

Thanks again! mmm... lack of recline is a prob. My ds3 is 7months. I do quite a bit of walking around shops and up and down school runs and he frequently falls asleep so perhaps i should be looking for a maclaren thats not so high as the technoxt. I think that may be extra tall!

We fitted a friend's Maclaren Triumph across the very back bit of the boot (bit left when all seats are up) with our Zapp on top once. So Triumph might be worth looking at. We've got the double version and I actually like it better than our Phil and Teds!

We have to put the 7th seat up and stick the buggy into the footwell but also sometimes use disposable shower caps to cover the wheels!

Wouldn't recommend a Zapp but the Petite Star Zia is similar and does recline.

Triumph fits, shorter handle height than the Techno.

We have a techno xt (5 years old) and it fits behind the six/seven seats, or in the footwells behind the front row of seats. Have you tried putting it at a slight angle?
