Hi all,

First time doing this but I need some help.

I am changing my beautiful Stokke Pram for a double pram as I am expecting my second in Feb. I have been researching on the net the huge variety of double prams that there are and I am a debating between the Pear and the Mutsy duo. Anyone have any comments on either?

Would love to hear from people that have had either... My only comment so far is that the Pear looks a little squashed but on the other hand I have heard that you can't recline both Mutsy seats... Any oppinions?

I did think of the P&T but just cant get over the fact that the little one just sits sooo low.

please please some advice would be good!
cheers

seats in ABC (both seats) lie flat enough for newborns, ive had 2 newborns in mine(im a foster mum,so use it lots with different ages)
its the best double ive ever used

I have Jane Powertwin and it is fab fab fab for going round shops and also for long walks. Makes a big difference going over bumpy bits compared to any buggy without airfilled tyres too.

I have twins but often have one twin in buggy and also my 2 year old.

Get lots of comments on how great it looks too. Esp from men!

I have the easywalker and it is fantastic

I have an Apple, bought with the intention of using it as a Pear if required. I saw my first Pear out in the wild this weekend and had a chat with the woman. She loves it, it's heavy but does exactly what she needed it to do. She had a 2.5 yo in the front and a car seat with the baby in the back. I love the look of it and am very happy with the idea of using it if the time comes.

dizzyjingles · 08/12/2008 11:16

the apple has a very silly layout which stopped me buying it

if baby is facing you then toddler at the front also has to face you effectively only giving them a view of the rear of the baby seat

so you turn the toddler round at the front to look out but then the baby seat has to face the front too and you can't see baby ?!!?

not what I wanted at all. I bought the dup easywalker and DD2 is in the seat facing out the way while DD3 is in her lie flat carry cot until she's also old enough for the seat. It can also take a car seat instead of the carry cot, is lightweight and deceptively narrow fitting through most doors and an aboslute dream to push

we do a lot of walking though so really needed an offroader

Hiya i have 2 doubles at the moment and have dd3 (14 months) and dd4 (6 weeks)
I have a mountain buggy terrain for walking to and from school and offroad walks although i have used it in town and never had any problems with the width, i would prefer the urban with it's swivel wheels but as i got this at a bargain price i cant complain! I have a single carrycot for dd4 so she is flat and rear facing and dd3 has a thick buggysnuggle so she is really snug.
I also have a mamas & papas duette in peacecamp, this is lovely as although it looks long it is really easy to handle and steer and both dd's rear face. I have dd4 in the front in the full size carrycot so she is totally flat and lovely and warm. DD3 sits closest to me and rear faces so we can chat as we walk, when dd4 is big enough for a seat i will turn them to face eachother. I also have the carseat which can click straight onto the chassis which is ideal when we go round the supermarket when there are no double trollies available.

mumo75 - guess it's down to your own preference. some people are only happy with 170-180 degree recline for newborns despite many buggies being officially suitable from birth with a recline not as flat as that.

ELMOchristmascountdown · 08/12/2008 15:22

thats one of good things about jane. the 2 dc can look at each other if you want. or not if you have a toddler who is good at annoying the baby. it's really versatil with how you put the dc.

Egg · 08/12/2008 20:39

ELMO am I being very thick with my Jane?? (very likely!). The seats can only face forward I am sure . If you put a car seat on they would face towards you, but thus away from each other (unless diff on Twin Two to Powertwin).

mummymaggie · 08/12/2008 20:49

Thanks for you comments elmo. I will have a look at the jane powertwin, I saw one on the street and they look good. I totally agree on the p&t and how low the seats are... and yes the side by side are just to big.

tahnks again

if you put car seat on position nearest you then they are facing away and toddler cant pester lo. if you put lo in carrycot/car seat on the front position (can remove the seat unit completely to make it lighter and EVEN smaller to fold) the baby is facing you and toddler is in back seat facing baby. and then toddler can have a lie-flat seat if they take naps too. toddler can just reach babies feet button. but not face to really bug them. my 2 loved this as ds would amuse baby dd and if he was bored he would clip and unclip her harness while we were going round shops.

but if you have the infant carrier on you can also put the hood on and the hood from infants carrier almost touches it completely closed. i used to do this when lo was sleeping to stop ds touching her (but you and toddler can still see baby through the vision panel on hood) and give her some shielding from background noise to sleep.

Egg · 08/12/2008 21:15

Bugger. I tried to put carseat at front but I couldn't make it work. It even said in my instructions that it was not possible (except on German and Dutch models or something?). I have twins so often had two car seats on, but if I had one twin in sling and toddler and twin in buggy would have much preferred toddler in back as waaaay easier to push.

Ah well.

Too late now. Nobody goes in car seats anymore.

Thanks though! I am going to try it again tomorrow to satisfy my curiosity!

ELMOchristmascountdown · 08/12/2008 21:27

so how did you get the seat on front when you had 2 on it?? is yours the pro fix or the older version connection with adapters?

Egg · 08/12/2008 21:31

No I had removed front seat and then tried to click it in (is last year's model, definitely a Pro, I got it in about Oct/Nov 07 brand new), but IIRC it wouldn't fit properly because the back seat was in the way (ie when you put the car seat on the back it sticks out, but if you try to put it on the front it sticks into the back seat, meaning no space for legs for toddler. Does that make sense?? I will try again tomorrow, there was definitely a problem.

ELMOchristmascountdown · 08/12/2008 21:39

you put it on bumper bar connectors. it does look quite tight. but if you put toddler in seat first, with the angle there legs go to rest on footrest theres actually loadsa room (powertwin i'm talking about. )

i had a rebel. not if your trying carrycot/matrix/strata. different models have different seats avaiable.

i got mine about same time. we waited pre ordered and waited on new version with pro fix when dd was born in jul 07

nappyaddict · 10/12/2008 01:02

looks good too
