We have just bought a Zafira, which has a miniscule boot when all 7 seats are up. I'm struggling to get my Maclaren Techno in there when all the seats are in use, therefore I want to get a small buggy.

My dd is 17 months old, so I don't need anything fancy. I have a rear-facing silver cross for long walks at home so only really want a 'nipping' buggy.

It must recline a little (although I'm not bothered about a full recline), it must be good to push (can't stand rickety wheels), it must be fairly lightweight and most importantly (obv) it must fold up very tightly and not be too long.

Recommendations (and links) please

Maclaren Quest or Mamas and Papas Pulse, both good and recline, fold compact too. All the other small buggies I have tried feel flimsy by comparison.
You could buy my Loola!
But it might be too big.

carrielou2007 · 05/12/2008 21:03

Quinny zapp (folds small but is rubbish, no recline) or petite star zia (looks like zapp, folds nearly as small and has a recline but very flimsy, fine for short shopping trips) maclaren volo fab but no recline or silver cross izz, very lightweight and has a snooze relcline. I have had them all bar fizz as bought volo insted and liked it so much bougth brand new one (fancy a volo in powder pink and grey??!!)

PlonkerTeatowelOnTheirHeads · 05/12/2008 21:17

LOL at you both trying to sell me your buggies

3girlies - a loola will be too big, but thanks
Will take a look at the quest and pulse. Do you know anywhere that sells these cheap?

carrielou - wasn't sure about the volo as I wanted a big of a recline, but again, thanks
Don't like the sound of the Zapp or Zia - really don't want a flimsy one. Will take a look at the Fizz.

Any opinions on this one?

the pop is the same as the techno so surely it's just as long?

thisisyesterday · 05/12/2008 21:21

i have a m&p nipi which is good.
it's def shorter and more compact than the jane energy I had.

they're on offer atm from m&p

thisisyesterday · 05/12/2008 21:22

here
(i have mojo chocolate. tis lovely)

misdee · 05/12/2008 21:22

maclaren ryder fits there. so any if the other macs except the techno would fit.

i am not sure the pop will fit as i think its the same height as the techno.

i love the look of the fizz. i want one. but am a maclaren girl

PlonkerTeatowelOnTheirHeads · 05/12/2008 21:37

Ok - had a look

I hadn't realised the pop was as long as the techno, so yes, thats out! Looked such a bargain though

The m&p pulse is a little over what I want to spend. Dd is 17 months and I can't really justify spending that much. Does look lovely though.

The m&p nipi is gorgeous! But I would need the all-weather accessory pack thingy which puts it up there with the pulse.

I can't find the ryder???

The Quest looks gorgeous (LOVE the brown/pink mod!!) but again, I'm not sure I can justify the cost.
Has anyone got a triumph? Mothercare have these for £70 which seems like a good deal?

Love the Fizz. Love SC prams anyway and this looks perfect. Not sure on the pretty pink one though (marshmallow) as it will get dirty far to quick, but the eclipse looks nice.

Has anyone got one of those?

How about a Baby Jogger City Mini? This is what I have as my 'nipping' buggy.

babyjjbaby · 05/12/2008 22:14

buy my maclaren quest in red and black

PlonkerTeatowelOnTheirHeads · 05/12/2008 22:14

Thanks saskia - will take a look ...

i think that maclarens are very overpriced for what you get. you can get soemthing just as good for a lot less money

Catilla · 05/12/2008 22:21

I put my Maclaren Quest in a Zafira on holiday - they used to be around £60 in Mothercare or Kiddicare.com. Fantastically reliable. But if you want really cheap & cheerful (and small) don't Mothercare have an own-brand stroller which folds just as small?

TheBlonde · 05/12/2008 22:21

maclarens are still going cheap on boots.com

PlonkerTeatowelOnTheirHeads · 05/12/2008 22:23

Hmmm the citi mini looks to big saskia - over my price limit too ...

babyjj - this is not a wanted ad

I don't know TIY, I really like maclarens and have had cheaper buggies (got 3 dd's) and tbh they've been false economy. My techno was dd2's and is now about 5 yrs old but is still going strong ...it just won't fit in the damn car

I've had a mothercare's own one catilla (jive, i think?) I didn't like it - it was very rickety and didn't last very long.
The quest is really lovely and probably my favourite but is £95 in Mothercare and a little too much for me (I want everything, lol). Thanks

Thanks TheBlonde - will go look now ...
