I know loads of people ask this but, can you fit an 8 y/o in a toddler bed?

Dd's room is tiny, and only fits a single bed, as if you put even a bedside table in there it makes it so that there is not enough room to walk down the side of the bed to tuck her in.

A toddler bed however would fit across the room as opposed to going down the length of it, therefore tripling the room's size (yes, it is v small!). Would she still fit in it at 8, which is when we will be moving to a (hopefully!) bigger house? She is 4.8 atm. Or should I get an extending one and then move it to the longway position when she grows? They look like they will snap in half if I leaned on it too hard .

Too far for matress - could sell well on ebay though

Pawslikepaddington · 03/12/2008 23:38

Oh my god that is such a good idea! Why on earth didn't I think of just co-sleeping-we tend to co-sleep in her single anyway (top and tail), as my room has been the storage room for the past two months so my bed is unreachable! Will people at school think she is weird? Or should I just get her a new bed if it crops up? Am also worried about if I ever meet a new man (although I have been single 5 years now, so not looking likely )!

As in I don't want to co-sleep in my bed for a long time and then dd feel like she is being turfed out for Mr New.

Mine love playing on their beds so I would still get her her own small bed & then sort out your room so she can come & co-sleep with you if she wants.

cheeseandsproutssarnie · 03/12/2008 23:42

why would people think shes weird?i sleep in a bed with my dh.im not weird-not much.

Pawslikepaddington · 03/12/2008 23:45

She's been struggling at school re making friends, so I don't want to add fuel to any fire . Just seen the most amazing bed in the white company-it's too expensive, it's too big, but it is SO beautiful! !

lol buy it!

Pawslikepaddington · 03/12/2008 23:49

And then I would be forced to swap rooms with her, so we would have to co-sleep-in her bed! ! Oooh it's so pretty! . God, if I had known 6 years ago that having children would leave me salivating over bloody storage beds I would never have done it! !

My 8yr old DD is 131cm's.
I don't think I would be able to squeeze her into a toddler bed.
