Does anyone have any experience of these. Can you recommend a good one around £100?

Thankyou! We are drowning in condensation as I write,.......

Oh I just (about 20mins ago) got one delivered for exactly £100. Haven't used it yet, but shall fire it up tomorrow. If any good will let you know.
We too are drowning in condensation. It's horrible isn't it?

abraid · 02/12/2008 12:21

Mine is good--it's a PREM-I-AIR. It was about that price, or rather less. Not huge and wouldn't clear a whole house of condensation. I tend to put it wherever the problem is worst.

I also use it for drying washing in the utility room when the heating is off during the day.

Abraid - Drying washing sounds good. Thanks. I'll look it up.

Rislip - I feel like we're living underwater some days! It'd be great to know what differenc eit makes. Thanks.

I've just ordered one, mine was an argos own. this site is quite good for telling you which size/type you need for the size of house

heymammy · 02/12/2008 16:16

We got this one www.diy.com/diy/jsp/bq/nav/nav.jsp?action=detail&fh_secondid=9446440&fh_view_size=6&fh_eds=%3f&fh_lo cation=%2f%2fcatalog01%2fenGB%2fcategories%3c%7b10096%7d%2fcategories%3c%7b10098%7d%2fspecification sProductType%3ddehumidifiers&fhrefview=lister&ts=1228234354482&isSearch=false from B&Q last summer. It's suitable for up to 3-bed house so may need the next size up if you have more rooms.

Works really well, in fact at first we had to change the bucket about 3x a day . You could literally hear the water running into it! I now put it on first thing in the morning to help clear the window condensation then I only have it on if I've got washing drying.

You will be amazed!

LaTrucha · 02/12/2008 19:29

That's a very useful site. Thanks Clairey.

Heymamy - that's good to know. It looks a good price.

I had mine on the landing last night and the bucket was half full this morning BUT all the windows were still streaming. So I am going to put it in each room for 24 hours or so to dry them out then hopefully when I put it back on the landing it will keep things under control...

abraid · 04/12/2008 12:07

The other thing that helps is using that plastic seal (like cling film). We did this last year and it effectively acts as secondary glazing and stops the condensation.

LaTurkey · 04/12/2008 14:50

On the windows abraid? Does it look ok?

We've just ordered this one. It was recommended on claireybees website so hopefully we'll be bone dry soon. [hoping too much emoticon]

abraid · 04/12/2008 15:13

It doesn't look as good as double glazing would-- but the difference! I've just been cleaning the window that doesn't have the film on and it is soaking and black mildew has formed. On the neighbouring, film-covered panes, there is far less condensation.

rislip · 04/12/2008 17:58

Oh La Trucha/Turkey, we've had the de-hum working on and off for the last two days and we're living in a different house. A tiny tiny bit of condensation in the morning and that's it. I put the de-hum on and it's gone in about 1.5 hours. Thrilled!
