What trampoline have you got?
Gobbledigook · 20/03/2005 10:24
Looking to buy a big round trampoline this summer and wondering really what brand is best - do you really get what you pay for with trampolines?
What size do you really need - do you really need a 14' one or is 10' or 12' OK. Bear in mind I've got 3 boys so perhaps bigger would be better!
Just been googling trampolines and there are so many I don't know where to start!
Oh and do you really need that net thing that goes round? I've heard that can be dangerous too if you bang into the metal posts or something.
TIA!

I have only got one of those small ones. Well it takes 2 people at one time but it is not the scale you are thinking of I don't think.

Hi GDG,
The Supertramp is the best, TP next then the rest. 'I' think the difference is in the quality of the cushion that covers the springs. Frames and beds seem the same.
With 3 boys I would defo go for the 14ft. If you come up you can try out a 14ft and a 12ft (next doors!)

I got a 10 footer from Argos for 129.99 and it's been a GREAT investment.
I think the nets give a false sense of security - I'd rather just insist on safe-bouncing at all times.
Having said that, we are planning to dig ours into the ground this summer (with a JCB) so that it is level with the garden, to reduce the danger of any accidents.

Ooh be quick to buy NOW though because as soon as it's sunny EVERYONE will buy one - it took us WEEKS to get ours from Argos last year.

Anteater - I think I'm up w/c 4th April to see Mum so would love to come and see your trampoline if you don't mind?
Gobbledigook · 20/03/2005 15:59
OMG Anteater - the Supertramp are rather expensive!! At the same time, I don't mind paying if I really do get better quality and it's safer for the kids. With 3 little boys who should use it for a really good number of years yet, I don't want to scrimp if we'll lose out eventually.

we've got an 8foot one. Our garden is long and thin so anything bigger would have blocked the whole garden.
The good thing about is that it's much much lower than the bigger ones, only 51cm high and they can climb on and off easily.
We made sure that it can take an adults weight too, I refused to have a trampoline in the garden if I couldn't go on it
Gobbledigook · 20/03/2005 17:28
JT - are you coming with me for a bounce on Anteaters trampoline!?
Hmmm, I think we can fit a 14' in our garden so I think I'll go for that - I want a go too Emma!!
bambi06 · 20/03/2005 17:38
just looked and theres a few on ebay , dont know whether they`re any cheaper than in the shops but worth a look
morningpaper · 20/03/2005 18:43
I don't think the more expensive ones are any safer - they are all basically the same in construction. The safety of it depends 100% on the bouncer, not the trampoline.
