Decided we need to update out kitchen. It's only 2.7m by 1.6 and we went to MFI today and were quoted £6k incl fitting(after 20% sale discount) for a Schreiber kitchen. It was one of their cheapest ranges and basic worktop. Did include single oven, ceramic hob and slimline dishwasher but I think that's a hell of a lot for such a small kitchen isn't it? We still need to get tiles, flooring and lighting on top of this.

Anyone else got any recommendations - ideally like to keep it below £4500 including applicances.

If you like the style then try www.unpaintedkitchens.co.uk.

They make them all to your own design/measurements so you don't have to worry about squeezing in stuff that is too big or having gaps.

Ours only cost 3k (for 6 under cupboards, 2 pan drawers and two double over cupboards) we got the builder to fit it for about £200 and then the painter to paint it for another £300ish I think. They do wooden worktops very reasonably too, we got granite though.

The fat below me is current re-doing their kitchen. I met the builder in the lift on Friday, and asked him how it was going. He said "Well, I hope the owners like eating out because MFI still hasn't delivered what was bought and paid for". So, that's my only knowledge about MFI.....for what it's worth.....

our mfi stuff is always delivered on time - in fact - we ordered a dining table and chairs and they delivered an extra 3 chairs.
The table had a little glue bubble - I phoned them to get it swapped over and the took another £25 off.
One of our kitchen units had a bash on the back of it (hidden against a wall) and they gave it to us for free.
So we have had 3 lots of kitchen stuff, dining table and chairs, and a wrought iron bed from them and been happy 100%

Well,we went for Optiplan and got the lot for £550o. This was originally on the basis that we had to rip old kitchen out and settle for a gas hob (I wanted ceramic) and they ended up agreeing to take out old kitchen, give us a ceramic hob and supply and lay wall and floor tiles. So cheaper than MFI and much better quality. Being fitted end of April so quicker than MFI too.
