For a sort of stocking type thing for her. So far have got a few kitcheny things, a book and something else which I can't remember and am too lazy to go upstairs (two flights ) and check what it is. Thanks.

Pics of the children in a nice frame?

luckylady74 · 28/11/2008 17:33

We got a 'talking' photo frame for mil so it's a picture of the grandchildren with their recorded message on - can't remember where from though, but cheap!
Also got mil a Boots sleep set full of lavendar things and hot chocolate that is supposed to aid sleep.
Gloves/scarf?

GaspodTheWonderDog · 28/11/2008 17:48

We are always giving her pics of the children so I'm trying to resist this time! She's got lots of allergies so smelly stuff is a bit of a no go - sorry should have mentioned that.

nice leather gloves

I know you said she has lot of pics but what about a photo calendar

I got my mum a Memory Book from past-times for her to write notes or memories in to remember forever

I am a (62yo) Mum and would be very disappointed if that was the best my daughters could think of for me! 'kitcheny things' Ye Gods! MIL might be tricky but if it is your own mum surely you know what her favourite little treats are? I look forward to receiving adults only, VERY dark chocolate, Mrs Tilly's Tablet, sweet, white & fizzy wine, flowers especially in winter, vegetable seeds, socks (I LOVE socks) and games for my computer or game boy. That is just me, your own Mum will have her own favourites.

People here always suggest photos of DCs for older relatives and this is nice up to a point but we were over-run with photos (in a nice frame) + hand print and foot print mugs and plates etc. We do see the DGC every other day and take our own photos of them. ATM I have 100s of DGC photos in my computer and have set the file to run as a screen saver so have an endless display of ever changing pictures. GPs with computers might like a CD of photos to run rather than more pictures when they have run out of wall space.

A nice diary? If you happen to be doing a book people order you get a really nice RHS one free if you spend enough!

GaspodTheWonderDog · 28/11/2008 18:14

OOOoh, how harsh Granny 22! Glad you aren't my mum! Actually the kitchen stuff is a couple of things I bought from Pampered Chef and my mum said she loved them and could I get her some if I went to another PC evening. So NEEEEEeeer

She's diabetic so chocs etc generally a no-no and diabetic stuff is a bit boring (and everyone gives it to her)

Also the not knowing my own mum comments are a bit silly, people are often on here saying 'what shall I get for my dd/ds/dh' it's not that we don't know them it's just hard to come up with lots of ideas sometimes.

Gawd, can't believe I've let your post annoy me so much. Off to boil someones head.

Oh and Furball and Dilbertina - thanks for those, mum has a filofax so not sure about re-fills for that, might get my dad to check though, it would be a useful filler! She also already has leather gloves, she loves them because they are all worn and soft but it it only a matter of time until she leaves them somewhere again

Sorry Gaspod - you can boil my head if you like but it is obviously full of S**t.

This should bump the post for you and you may then get better suggestions now that we know your Mum is diabetic and actually wants kitchen thingys!
