I miss my drizabone.
I only ever used mine for horse riding and chasing errant cows and chickens.
Alwys warm, didnt matter if it got dirty, very water and wind proof. The only annoying thing was rewaxing it.
Other then that I wish I had one over here now.
Never had a barbour so cant compare but I would always go for the drizabone.

I have a Barbour classic style wax jacket with the cord collar. Its very water and wind proof but you do need a fleece/thick jumper underneath it.

Thanks, Mama & Aussie. I have a Barbour jacket but I really need something full length. Never had a Drizabone - they're cheaper than Barbour coats which I found surprising!

I had the full length coat. It had straps to put around your legs so it didnt flap around when riding...and to be honest I used them when herdng the chickens so the coat wouldnt flap around in the wind.
From what I can tell, they are cheaper over here then in Australia. Hmmmm possible christmas present for Dad perhaps?????

I like the Jack Murphy range

... they are really good quality for a really good price

(and no I'm not related to anyone in the company)

I don't liek drizabones
they look like you are the grim reaper(and are on your way to Twickenham for a Rugby international - do you think they sell them at the ground, everyone always seems to be wearing them!)

Personally I prefer a nice gore-texy coat and leggings for dogwalking.
I do have a barbour but it is far to smelly to contemplate wearing

bella29 · 26/11/2008 12:36

Did you have to say that about Twickenham, Dracula?

See, I am currently wearing hubby's old riding coat which is a) huge on me and b) not waterproof at all

Will look at the Jack Murphy's - thanks, Greyhairs.

Aussie - apparently Australian droughts are making it tough for Drizabone. I think the standard coat is about £120 on the net. My current one has leg straps which are good, you're right. Barbour coats are £160 - £180 and I've never really found Barbours very waterproof. Put a Drizabone on your list for Santa!
