I am about to place an order for mums at school, if you spend over £100, you get 40% of it back, which is a great easy fundraiser imo

Anyway, I've never had any of the products before but have decided on the Family Weekly Planner & am really tempted to get the pocket life book too but don't know if it would be any more useful than my old faithful filofax Anyone want to convert me?

I bought it and tbh haven't bothered as its so big and when I got the family weekly planner everything goes up on it so we can all see it

the spaces in the book are too wee to write everything in

its as if they've packed in a slot for more people but haven't left enough room in the slot to write anything useful iyswim

I'd just get the calendar and make sure everyone refers to it and anything else stick in your filofax

Dragonbrandybutter · 25/11/2008 23:55

i have the family weekly calender and it is fab. it has this sort of perspex sheet that you write all your regular stuff on it and use it to cover the weeks so you don't have to keep writing out all the stuff you do every week.
i am not making any sense.
it's the only product i've bought so i don't know about the other stuff.

Dragonbrandybutter · 25/11/2008 23:56

oh and i have a filofax too, the calender just helps us all communicate for we're doing.

johnbarrowmanlovesme · 25/11/2008 23:57

thanks dizzy, filofax it is then

Hi I am a fan, I have the weekly family planner and the family life book.

I like the bigger book, I had the smaller one last year better if you like carrying it about in your bag.

I have my life book on the desk, well usually about 1 ft from me at all times , I do take it out and about sometimes too, I prefer the colunms so I can keep track of the kids activities and my work and personel stuff. Columns in my life book tie in with the calender. Big life book has space for monthly budgets and monthly plans and overveiw.

But the pocket book has space for to do lists, shopping and meals each week. Plus addresses and space for notes each month .

Treated myself to one of the reduced leather covers for £3, meant to be a second but it looked fine to me, don't know if they have any left.

I have got the family weekly planner too, I really like it. There's tons of room for each day, handy if you have lots of busy DC's.

I know some people have ordered it and not got on with it though, as they prefer to see a whole month at a time. I do sometimes turn the page on a Sunday night and panic slightly when I realise Monday is someone's birthday/my car tax is up/I'm meeting the Pope..

skramble · 26/11/2008 00:03

The pocket life book is smaller than a filofax and doesn't have the boxes/ columns

johnbarrowmanlovesme · 26/11/2008 00:05

Ooh skramble, you sound very organised, if I have too many thing on the go I forget what I've put where, I wish I could have a look at the product before buying, would be a lot easier to make a decision.

Have you looked ont he website?

I have my old pocket book here if you have any other queries, it has a slightly different layout, but the website shows you the week to page layout.

Actually I am very good at looking organised, but I have terrible memory problems and have to have systems to help me remember basic stuff. I have a whole thing with notes and envelopes clipped to my kitchen wall .

johnbarrowmanlovesme · 26/11/2008 00:12

I have been looking at the website for about an hour trying to decide what to get I too have terrible memory problems & have lists about what list I need to do next. I am intrigued to know what systems you use to help yourself remember skramble?

mums at school? what is this?

skramble · 26/11/2008 00:22

Ok

I have the family weekly planner on the kitchen wall, the clear overlay has the kids regular activities written on it. 6 columns so two columns each. Everything gets written on that we are doing, when MIL (chief babysitter) is away etc.

My family life book mirrors that and I used a clear divider from my old diary to again write the regular actvities on ( I still get the times mixed up) they have a busy schedule. I sit down regularly with my calender. life book and menu planner to tie them all together.

I have clips hooked up two for each child, with school letters and actvitiy letters on it, usually write in big black pen on letter what it is about ie panto, camps etc and when money due and if paid, binned once thing has been done. Kept in order of the things happening or when money is due.

I have another clip with envelopes for money due, like scout subs, panto money, dance fees etc, again in order of being due with any forms to be handed in in the envelopes too. If I have any cash left at the end of the week theory is I can add it to the envelopes but that never happens.

My god I sound like a freak .

johnbarrowmanlovesme · 26/11/2008 00:24

Mums at school?? Mothers of the children? Some of the mums have ordered the above products, so as well as being super organised from now on, we will have raised a little bit of money for our dc too

cheeset mums at school are the other strange harrased looking people you see hanging out around educational establishments .

johnbarrowmanlovesme · 26/11/2008 00:36

Not like a freak skramble, but super organised. I like the idea of separate clips for the children, all our letters from school etc are just stuck to the fridge wherever I can find a space, it looks very messy I am going to try your system I think, see if I can feel more organised & therefore less stressed, thank you for your help.

OP posts:
skramble · 26/11/2008 00:44

It actually looks quite tidy with the calender, the letters and envelopes all together.

skramble · 26/11/2008 00:47

The envelopes for money was my break through i can see whats due next and when (written on envelope).Plus they are ready to seal and give to kids to hand in, helps teachers too as they know what it is.

johnbarrowmanlovesme · 26/11/2008 18:10

I placed my order today & we got £45.66 commission for School
