FGS she is dyslexic and dyspraxic and struggles a lot in school .
The teacher keeps sending homework home that is way too advanced for her for example today she has a X table grid for her 7's and 5's this is beyond her ability and time and time again it has been agreed that she will be sent home with a more simple worksheet if the class is sent home with HW.
Now I have a frustrated dd who can not do the work unless I tell her the answers she thinks she is going to get done if she dosen't take it in and I end up with the tantrum all night .
I do not want special treatment she has been assesed they know her abilities and why agree to something of they are not going to follow it through.
I have two options go in and see the SENCO again or write a snotty note to the teacher asking if she can not do something in class why is she expected to sudenly know it at home ?

Go and see SENCO and teacher. Teacher may not understand the difficulties associated with dylsexia and dysraxia.

Just write at the bottom of the work "DD was unable to do this work, and because upset when I asked her to explain it to me"

I often have to do this with ds1's spellings, which he frequently can't even read.

I am NOT ruining my evenings with my children forcing them to do something they simply can't do. I won't do it.

I would make an appointment to go and see the SENCO and teacher together. Make sure that the notes of the meeting are recorded and put on your dd's SEN file.

It's not acceptable. I don't agree with homework for primary aged children. However, the school I used to work in had a policy of giving out homework, so I used to differentiate homework in exactly the same way that I would differentiate classwork. It's absolutely pointless otherwise, and very damaging to self esteem
