Does anyone have The White Company's children's furniture?

I'm thinking of getting children's furniture from White Company for my 2 daughters, 3 yrs and newborn, and was wondering if they still look reasonably 'nice' after some normal 'wear and tear'.

It looks great on the website and I have seen the chest of drawers/wardrobe/bedside table in someone's house which was a couple of yrs old. The bedside table looked a bit worn especially on top (cracked because the wood had expanded??) but otherwise the other 2 pieces were fine.

I would be buying a bed, cotbed, chest of drawers, shelf, table/chair etc etc so would like to get some info before splurging on all this! Any feedback much appreciated - thx.

We've got a chest of drawers and wardrobe. They are nearly 2 years old and look great.

Look at Aspace, com - I prefer the cream than the pure white look of the White Company

I think TWC is better than aspace. WE bought a bed, bedside table and wardrobe from TWC. The wardrobe was gorgeous but it couldn't fit up the stairs..their service was excellent and they came and took it away with no problems. The bedside table does have paint chipped from it and I was a bit disappointed in this but guessed any other table would be the same given my heavy-handed daughter. The bed is fab..the mattress excellent quality. Aspace is cheaper but the service isn't as good IMO. The bookshelves that we got from them are sturdy enough but they do look cheaper. If I could afford it, I'd go with TWC every time. I seem to recall a discount of 17.5% recently..do a 'voucher'search. If you do go Aspace, I remember that they have 'factory' or 'end of stock' furniture on their website which is discounted

Can I ask those of you who do have White Co furniture already a question: what are the drawers in their chests of drawers like? Are they made of wood and strong, or not?

stillstanding · 27/11/2008 20:52

Made of wood and strong, ohdear! Perhaps not the smoothest of drawers to slide in and out but that is because they are not on runners (which I think seem a bit cheap somehow). I would recommend them.

Not on runners is a good thing imo. Thanks for that.

Thanks.

Eltham, can I ask if the top surface of your bedside table (ie.where you put the bedside lamp etc on) is still in good shape, or is the paint chipped/cracked there? (If not, where is the paint chipped on yours?)

The one I saw in someone's house had paint cracked on this surface which I was disappointed about...it was a couple of yrs old but her 6 yr old daughter is apparently quite careful so I suspect it is more a quality/manufacturing issue?? Otherwise I liked it.

Got the bedside table, had for 2 years, careful dd1 aged 4 and still looks spotless! Also have wardrobe, bed and trundle, would recommend all.

Oh, which bed did you choose for dd1? I am going for the classic chest of drawers and bedside table, and thought I would get the classic single bed. Does this bed look nice in real life??

(I can't actually go into a shop to look at it as I live in Sweden! I hope all this stuff is as nice as it looks on the internet as it will cost a small fortune, ie. 500 pounds or so, to transport here...Crazy I know. )
