I've read that sales of woodburners have increased hugely with the rise in energy costs. They are well worth the wait though, we've done a lot to this house and I think the woodburner was one of the best things we've done.

No, a very boring 1960s chalet bungalow ! It has one of those horrible purbeck stone great big fire places in, which would have cost a fortune to remove as is supporting the floor. So we now have a hearth with black slate on it, the stove sitting on the hearth, then a big oak mirror above it to hide as much of the stone as possible and it looks loads better than before. and It blends in fine, especially as we're surrounded by trees so it looks kind of appropriate. A friend has a similar one in a 1960s bungalow but has it set into the wall with an oak beam above the opening, that looks lovely.

I can't find the camera at the moment but if I can I'll take a photo.

We bought a second hand Bosky woodburning stove for £50 off Ebay about four years ago - can't remember what we paid to have it fitted because at the time we redid all the central heating so a big job. Kitchen is a single storey so the guy had to put a hole in the roof for the chimney. It burns wood and coal and heats 12 radiators and during the winter I do all my cooking in the oven and on the stove top while it's on. Best £50 we ever spent.
