Come and talk to me about the Playmobil Pirate Ship. Is it worth the money?

At £50 it seems a little pricey, but then it's big and if it really can float on water then we could be onto a winner. Anyone got one?

We bourght a playmobil pirate ship when ds1 was 4. It was quite pricey as I remember. It hasnt (for us) been a toy that my boys have played with and it is a case of endless pieces spread around the house. For some reason we have never really got on with Playmobil but lego or knex has been played with non-stop. Perhaps its because you have the ship itself and then just have these bits that snap/click on and off - so they're not actually "making" anything and these tiny tiny pieces all over the house cos if theyre not clipped on to the ship they just scatter!!. Sorry - this sounds a bit negative. I think they can go in the bath. With lego at least it all fits to other sets and you can throw it all in a big box!! [Can you tell Ive got three small boys??] In our experience Knex (both beginner and then the smaller stuff]and Lego or lego duplo have been played with loads more.

ds had previous version at 4 , great toy, full of play value if fiddly to put together with lots of small bits. However we went on to collect lots more and it hasn't been played with in a good while (he's now 10).

DS1 had several Playmobil pirate ships (pirates were a bit of an obsession for him!), and they were fantastic. I can honestly say that he played with them everyday for probably 2 years. Definitely worth the money. I have kept ours, hidden away in the loft cupboard, for any grandchildren that are likely to come along!

...ah. Strangely I can hear the positive comments.

Phew.

Don't have the pirate ship, but have loads of other Playmobil which gets played with practically every day. (ds is 7, nearly 8)

I would say if you do get it, it's worth maybe asking other relatives etc to get some of the smaller accessory pirate sets to go with it. Playmobil seems to work better if you have quite a few bits which go together.

Pirate ship is FAB!

My boys sound the opposite of tab's - love playmobil but not into lego or knex so much - perhaps because they are just lazy and not v. constructive!.....

Anyway the ship has been played with lots and even though DS is now 11 it is still in his room (along with pirate island).

Get lots of weapons for the pirates.

Also, we have the older version so don't know if there is an updated version, but ours has little wheels on the bottom so you can move it really easily around the room and ATTACK!!!!

S1 got one when he was 4, he's now 11 and it's the only thing he still plays with out of all the Playmobil & Lego & Knex etc. we have.
S2 (9) has one too and though he will still play with Lego, his fave is still the ship. D has all the other Playmobil in her room now but the boys won't let her even play with the ships, let alone have them...
