very cute but think most toddlers would actually prefer a cheap ridealong plastic car or truck instead

lovelysongbirdfliesaway · 19/11/2008 15:23

hi i got dd one from advice on here that they are great.
and she plays with it everyday.
although she still doesn't ride it
shes 17 months

you can also sell it when your done on ebay for almost as much as you paid for it, so its a good buy imo.
dd has the ladybird one

Carameli · 19/11/2008 18:19

My ds got the tiger one last Christmas. He was 1yr just before Christmas. He loves it so so so much. We got the bigger one after advice he would grow out of the smaller size too quickly. I have to say I was suprised by the size of the larger one and thought at first they had sent the wrong one so def get the large one.

they are fab. even my 5yr old dd has a go now and then.

wideratthehips · 21/11/2008 17:46

ds got a bumble bee one for his first birthday from grandparents and a sit on wooden train from us and unfortunately the wheely bug hasn't had a look in. it sits rather forlornly looking very cute. ds2 did enjoy boinging the antenna for a while

NorthernLurker · 21/11/2008 17:49

another vote for the large one here. I got it for dd3's 1st birthday and she didn't take much notice at first but now she's 18 she loves it and rides it all over. It is obviously going to be one of the toys that grows with her so I'm really pleased

pagwatch · 21/11/2008 17:51

They are FANTASTIC as they can spin around as well as go backwards and forwards.

DD absoloutely loved hers but she left it outside one day and the foxes killed it.
She is 6 now or I would get her another one.

AnAngelWithin · 21/11/2008 17:55

wow how big is it for an 18 year old to ride it northern??

NorthernLurker · 21/11/2008 19:47

ooh massive - I use it to do the shopping!

Bubbaloo · 22/11/2008 01:14

We bought ds1 the small bee when he was about 18 months and he loved it so much that last Christmas we bought him the large mouse.
Excellent toy which all his friends also seem to love.Infact he still rides the bee and was on it today.Ds2 also loves it but at the moment just prefers to play with the wheels.
I think the larger one is aimed at 3-5 year olds and the smaller one 1-3 year olds.

goodasgold · 22/11/2008 01:33

We got the big mouse for dd2, before she was one. The little toddlers don't appreciate the design classics in the same way we do. I would still get ds the tiger though, it's so sweet.

I just come on to ask the very same question.

I am getting one for 2yr old DS but know his older sister will kick off if she doesnt get the same. So I am wondering are they suitable for a 5yr old?

thanks

Kaloo007 · 22/11/2008 09:35

I had two for my DCs, ladybird and bumblebee

utterly fantastic, you won't regret this purchase

Catz · 22/11/2008 09:54

Can I hijack and ask a question too. I was thinking of getting one of these for my DD who will be about 18 mnths at Christmas and on the tall side. I'm trying to decide which size to get.

She loves her friend's small one but it looks as if she'll grow out of it soon so don't want to spend all of that money if she'll outgrow it. If I get the big one will it be far too big for her at this age?

Thanks

We bought the big one for our DD's first birthday and she's sort of grown into it.

I'd definitely buy the bigger size because once they get the hang of sitting on it and scooting along they'd most likely be too big for the small size.

DD loves scooting down the hallway into the kitchen on the tiled floor.

meep · 22/11/2008 09:59

my 3yo niece still rides on her small one - so we got dd the small mouse and dd still uses it at 16mo. Best toy she has ever got - she squeaks with delight whenever she sees it !

SoupDragon · 22/11/2008 10:36

They go really well on laminate flooring

TrinityRhino · 22/11/2008 10:39

I was rthinking of buying one of these for dd3's second birthday
great thread, I think I'll get the large one

Catz · 23/11/2008 14:13

Thanks for the reply mrspnut. We took DD to try some yesterday and got her the large tiger. She's a tall 16 mnths and her feet can just about touch the ground on it already so she should be able to enjoy it already.

omgidbi · 24/11/2008 09:54

Our girls adore the wheelybug, and both play with the big one happily at 2yrs (but quite small for her age) and 5yrs. I got mine from www.baby-bean.com (well I ordered it but actually my mum paid! )and it worked out cheaper than blooming marvellous because the delivery was free.
