any of these any good?

HeinzSight · 17/11/2008 11:53

this is similar to what we currently have, except ours look like they have brass nipples in the middle

ours were this type

We live in a new build and have these in our hallway x 2. The bars can be angled.

HeinzSight · 17/11/2008 12:24

what's the general opinion of these?

halogen so light will be v directional - 3 pools right under fitting

fine if you have lots of lamps on side tables etc

I prefer the ones with the opaque glass shades as you get a better diffuse ambient light, ditto with the upligher type I linked to that point at the ceiling

HeinzSight · 17/11/2008 12:48

which ones with opaque glass shades? The ones I linked to on John Lewis site?

cupsoftea · 17/11/2008 12:55

Can you dim the ceiling lights?

HeinzSight · 17/11/2008 13:37

Am lurking with envy. We had a choice of a new build or a Victorian cottage when we moved. We went for the old one because it had fireplaces . Have been kicking ourselves ever since.

As you were!

oh dear Eyeball
