Sorry, me again. Anyone got a Crock Pot slow cooker?

This one

I like the removable pot that goes on hob/in oven/microwave etc - and the fact that it's programmable. Any thoughts?

that does look a good one franch. Mine is only dishwasher and oven safe. But it is alot of £££££££££.

I know you said you wanted 2 meals out of it but personally to cook a meal in one IMHO is no harder than getting the other half out of the freezer and re-heating, so I always cook from fresh.

If you didn't want to cook 2 meals one time, you may find that one is hard to fill for one meal.

I don't brown the meat first, others say it goes grey, but I can't say we've noticed here. I literally chuck everything in, (use boiling water so it doesn't have to spend ages heating it) put the lid on and go out. Then come home to a gorgous meal

That's really helpful furball. I can't wait!

I have to say I DO find chopping and prepping more work than reheating, so will go for a biggish one I think.

franch - only 2 reviews on amazon and they are both not good

franch · 16/11/2008 13:39

I know - but the only complaint seems to be that it's too fast - which if it's programmable shouldn't be too much of an issue? And the first reviewers says it's a problem with ALL modern slow cookers anyway! I dunno ...

Annoyingly, I don't seem to be able to log on to the Which? trial subscription, and the Good Housekeeping report is 'temporarily unavailable'

Which say

  • morphy richards 48715 £34
  • cuisinart CSC650U £70
  • micromart MM 9879 £40
  • Prima PS0003 £19

Oh, fantastic missing - many thanks for that.

Morphy Richards looks good but is not programmable - do you think that matters?

Also you can't put the pot in oven/on hob etc. I guess all that means is extra washing up really?

I suppose the Cuisinart's 'cook and hold' function is as good as programmable do you think? I wonder why the MR is ranked higher, as it doesn't have this function

I have a programmable crock pot slow cooker. Not the same as the one in your link but I'd say pretty similar!

Its been very good for me. I've had it a couple of years now. There are four of us and I usually have enough to freeze a second portion which I find very handy!

I've never had a problem with it anyway!

Thanks 2.4

Hmm. Just read an article that says 'autocook' (starts high, switches to low after an hour) is the best feature.

Right. Have gone for the morphy - mainly on price. Thanks all
