Any recommendations for easy on hands free hip carrier? Quinny Curbb any good?

I need a very easy to put on carrier for DS. I'm tempted by the Quinny Curbb, but don't know anyone who has one, and I think a hip carrier might help my back, rather than a back/front one. I have a Hotsling, but I'm not v good with it; I want a clunk/click type thing if possible!

How old is ds?
The Ergo can go on the hip (as well as front and back). I bought it because of the hip carry cos it seems most 'natural' me, though actually had forgotten about it (am carrying giant 8kg/17lbs ds on front). I can carry dd in it too (on front, hip or back, though she is small and 13kg). It doesn't hurt my back at all - I walk round everywhere with him and dd in the buggy or with my hands! Can bf in it too (the builders down the road do a double-take ). The front/back is very easy - you just sit him on and throw the straps on, do them up at the back and pull the sides.

Was going to suggest a pouch sling but I see that's what Hotsling is!! Have just had a look at the Quinny one, looks uncomfortable to me. Think the strap would dig in as it's holding all the weight? but haven't tried one.

Sorry was going to add that I haven't tried the hip carry recently so can't remember how easy it is...

Thanks Umlellala. DS is around 7kg now - I have a Babybjorn and find that too uncomfortable on my shoulders now. The reason I want it - we live in a 3rd floor flat, and I need a way to get DS down/upstairs and into and out of his buggy quickly and easily. I would also use a carrier for short trips - will investigate the Ergo more!

I have a hippychick which is brilliant for short carrying around. I keep it in the car for carting my DS in and out of shops when I can't be fagged to get the pushchair out

One of my friends has a lovely Scootababy which she raves about.

I would like one too, but don't think I can justify another sling at the moment.

Why a hip carrier though? If the Baby Bjorn is putting you off other shoulder carriers, it shouldn't because it really is only for small babies.

There are loads of others designed for babies aged three and four months and up.

I alternate between a Sleepy Nico, a Calyx, a Joey Sling and a Babyhawk with a one-year-old, and I never use a pushchair. Much too much hassle.

I bought a quinny curb with my ds but ended up selling in on ebay as the strap was really uncomfortable and it was such a pain getting him into it compared to a sling.
I then got a hippy chick and used that all the time. It was great for picking up dd from nursery and popping into a shop but would not say it was great for walking long distances. So easy to put on quickly though.

i found the quinny curbb confortable once I got DS in it, but it was a bit of a faff getting him in and its difficult to adjust the straps with a child in it, so it took ages to get it set up for first use. Didn't use it for ages either - by the time DS was about 11 months I found him too heavy to use the curbb.

Thanks guys - will investigate all of these suggestions. Much appreciated!

Thanks again for advice - I decided on a Scootababy eventually - arrived the other day and I LOVE it! Thank you mymblemummy!
