Looking for doll for xmas for my daughter - everyone seems to rave about the baby annabell dolls. Are these good? They don't seem to come with many accessories or shall I buy another type and if so please can someone recommend one. Thanks

Personally I think it's the cuter option (compared to Baby Born, Chou Chou etc) but it makes the most godawful wailing noise which will drive to you drink. They all come with hundreds of accessories/tat.
If you want a more unusual option, try www.bambolina.co.uk/
Corolle dolls aren't too much dearer and yet much nicer IMO. The accessories are nice too.

bumping this - have got the annabell now but now see that baby bjorn is one of the must have toys for christmas as you can bath it and change nappies etc. Reassurance please - shall I swap what I have?

does the Annabell require nappy changing etc?
Thanks

Annabelle is squashy body and has batteries so doesn't wee or undergo bathing. Baby born hard bodied so not 'cuddly'. What does your dd like doing? Mine preferred her baby born at that age as she loved the wee and poo function (yuk) and sticking it in the baby born bath!

We have baby Annabels and Baby Millie's (ELC) TBH girls play just as well with a normal soft doll with no functions.

At 2.5 i would keep the annabell doll as my dd had a baby born at that age and got frustrated that she couldnt make it wee on her own and its not very cuddly. She now has annabell and its a much nicer doll for her to play with, it makes lots of cute noises and sucks its dummy.

I like Manhattan Toys' Baby Stella personally- its a soft bodied baby doll. DD is getting that in Jan as a present from her new baby brother.

I got dd the bedtime Chou Chou doll, it's half price in toys r us atm (£14.99)

It's really really cute looking, yawns, sleeps and drinks from a bottle. Plus has a cute glow in the dark blanket. I thought dd would really appreciate it.

It's also a bit lighter than the Baby Annabel, dd is only 2.4 at christmas and Annabels a bit heavy for her.

My two play more with the 2 for £5 twins they got from Asda, kids eh

I have actually got them the Baby Born potty one for Christmas DD1 who's 4 wants it and that measn DD2 who's nearly 3 will want one too.

She has a drink and you can buy 'food' which you mix with water to make a wallpaper paste concoction. You bend the doll to sit her on the potty and gravity does it's job

Annabelle is soft bodied so can't wee/poo

stressed2007 · 19/11/2008 20:59

mmmm...think I am going to ave to buy another one then as daughter wants one that can wee!
