500 free texts - Is it a scam ?

Have been sent a text message to my mobile offering 500 free texts if I text "Free" or something to a certain number. The number has a website associated to it.

Is this a scam ?

Never ever ever respond to spam (whether text or email) is my motto, it only encourages the bastards to send more .

Responding to spammy emails can result in viruses

as soon as you respond to spam you're letting the spammers know they've got an active account - thereby getting even MORE spam

Steer clear.

My dad once accessed a website on a sign in the street which was asking if you wanted to earn £XXX per week etc and offering a website to access for more information. He went on the site and a message came up saying - this how you earn it - set up a site and let idiots like you log on - you've just been charged £XX
