dd has [[http://www.toysrus.co.uk/Toys-R-Us/Learning/Traditional-Toys/Dolls-House-with-100-Pieces(0025587); jsessionid=0D2D65516BDD2C353AF0511DC6B067D4.app13 this] she got it last xmas very reasonable as it includes all accessories

Lilyloo · 12/11/2008 20:27

sorry

Marne · 12/11/2008 20:29

this, alot less money than elc rosebud cottage and comes with furniture.

just had a look. It says on it that there are magnetic bits on it. Do you know what they are- slightly obsessed with magnets incase dd2 swallows them

we got dd one from great little trading last year and it fell apart by the end of xmas day, so thats one to avoid, we eventually found a really nice one from le toy van (sorry links are beyond me) we got it from harrods but they do sell online. its really lovely much sturdier than the elc one and she plays with it for hours.

Lilyloo · 12/11/2008 20:31

No magnetic bits in ToysRus one i don't think ?

Pixiefish · 12/11/2008 20:31

are they fairly sturdy. That's what attracts me tot he ELC one- it'll last a while for both girls

Unless it's a standard message Lily.
Will have a look at them all now

Just looked at dd's the magnetic pieces are the clasps on the doors but they are flush so can't be swallowed etc.
I have found it fine still being used every day one year on no probs!

gemmiegoatlegs · 12/11/2008 20:36

just a magnet on the door closing, it doesn't come off

Pixiefish · 12/11/2008 20:37

which one does your dd have nancy- they do look lovely. Don't suppose you know if the elc room sets fit inside it do you

However not sure any dolls house suitable for a 1 year old to play with unsupervised the pieces can be very small!

Pixiefish · 12/11/2008 20:39

Thank you all for your responses. I'm having a good look now

I wouldn't leave the 1 yo on her own with it. I was just thinking that when dd1 wants to play, so long as I'm there then dd2 could theoretically join in (although dd1 has a habit of carrying dd2 to the far reaches of the lounge when she is annoying her by spoiling her playing lol)

dd has got the one called sophies house, the elc people/furniture all fit in it. tbh after sending the great little trading one back i wasnt going to bother getting another one but this is lovely, you dont have to build/glue/saw it together it all slots together easily and is sturdy enough to last. i think it was cheaper than the elc one (not by much) but its much nicer

We have the ELC one, I have a suspicion that it's made by Le Toy Van. The design of the frame and a lot of the furniture pieces are identical to some of the Le Toy Van ones. Saw it being sold on an American Le Toy Van site too.

Anyhow seems to be quite sturdy I have 5 year old twin boys and a 4 dd and we move it a lot.

If it was me I'd get the 1 year old that new little plastic one in ELC (Cherry Tree cottage)???? Then she'd have her own.

The Toys R Us one is v good value and you could get her to help paint it when she get's older. Failing that could you show her the Le Toy Van and ELC sites so you can get some idea of which she'd like.

Be sure the wooden thing is her though, I have my suspicions dd would play with the Playmobil or Sylvanian Family ones more(she loves fidly little bits and Playmobil). Having said that we're getting her a few Sylvanian bits for Xmas for the first time so she'll have a family of field mice moving into her ELC one soon!!!!! [smile}

TurkeyLurkey · 12/11/2008 22:31

I like the Sylvanian Families ones. They do lots of different houses/hotels/bakerys. You can add to them as they get older as well, and collect the different familes. Argos have 25% off at the moment, link here
