Can someone explain this to me please? What on earth do they mean 'the modern way'?

Well. I love mine. Thanks.

Goober · 11/11/2008 19:32

Not really.
They're a bagofshite!

NosfeRaahhTu · 11/11/2008 20:01

sometimes i am very to work for JL.

We at our branch only sold one last year, iirc, and it was faulty! They were hardly safe, it was bolted down instore- you can't do that at home!

So the powers that be thought an either way up tree might work-

no- tis a daft idea, was last year, is this year

columbolover · 11/11/2008 20:07

Saw one of these in Dobbies on Sunday - never seen one before so we stood there in stunned disbelief - who on earth thought this one up!

samsonara · 11/11/2008 20:08

Well it's obviously so that you have to buy more nicer decorations because when the tree is the traditional way up you can put a few nice ones near the middle and top. This way up though there's more of the tree to focus on. It does look like it would topple over though, would have been better as a diamond shape, quick patent that idea too!

morningpaper · 11/11/2008 20:09

lol it IS funny

especially this:

"This can be used either way up, so the customer can change its look year on year"

Hmmm I've never thought "Oh gosh, my tree is looking SOOOo last year..."

Dottoressa · 11/11/2008 20:11

Hahahahahaha. JL is surely taking the p*ss?

MerlinsBeard · 11/11/2008 20:21

Where the hell do your presents go? on TOP of the tree?

wtf is that monstrosity anyhow?!

When i was little we had either NO tree or a crappy half tree that hung on the wall (i don't even want to talk about the silver foil twig)

SueW · 11/11/2008 20:43

DH & I were looking at them t'other day.

He's from NZ. We thought it could be our representation of Christmas Down Under

snowleopard · 11/11/2008 20:47

Yes they used to be hung upside down in medieval times, so I've heard. But they look so daft. I couldn't actually sit in the room with one - looking at them just feels too weird. As if I might actually be upside down without realising it.

And as for more presents underneath - that is so pish. Who the hell has so many presents and such a tiny room they can't actually fit under the tree? Who needs to be encouraged to have an even bigger pile of presents fgs?
