would I be able to get an OutNAbout double through narrow doorway?

Might be a stupid question but my front door is only 72cm wide but OutNAbout double is 77cm - is it possible to get it out by putting it through at a funny angle (almost sideways) or will it just not go?

TIA

My mum has one and she cant ge it through her door at all but we cant do funny angles as her staircase is at the door basically so would get stuck but as I say straight on it wont go through. Hope that helps a bit.

And she is getting rid of hers of you need... been used 3 times and is red

thank you

I've actually seen one for sale which I want to get but I'm just not sure if it will fit through the door... Don't know if the whole frame will be too big, if it's just the wheels, I could probably do it at a funny angle with 1 wheel at a time IYSWIM

Yes if it is folded down, no otherwise, the wheels are as wide as the handle and frame.

unless you have a big enclosed front porch you really will need a double that fits easily through your door its no fun getting babies or toddlers out of pushchairs in the pouring rain or when they are alseep becuase your pushchair doesn't go in the house. do you have to have a side by side? as im not sure theres any that narrow?

I have been looking at getting an E3 but just saw the outNabout at a really good price so was just wondering if I could get away with it to save money... Definately don't want to have to fold it to get it in... Will go back to E3.

thanks

how old are/will be dc's?
I've got a P&T for my two who are 3 next month and 16m i bought it 'late on' after a variety of other doubles its been a lifesaver for two toddlers i must say.

I wanted to get Nipper but we have an inner doorframe that is only 72cm. I was advised by one of the other lovely multiple mums that you can pop one of the wheels off to get through a doorway that is too narrow, but personally I think doing this every day would start to p**s you off!

I got the Powertwin and I am eternally grateful that I can just push it straight in and out without a hassle. I had to take a wheel off before coming in the other day (was covered in dog poo ) and it was a PITA despite coming off v easily as had to remove babies before doing it so they didn't practically fall out the side when the wheel came off.

Does that make any sense?

asuwere · 10/11/2008 16:36

Thanks Egg - that does make sense. DH suggested taking the wheels off too but I knew that would be a total PITA.

DC are 4mths and 2yrs. DS1 currently walks but he is starting to struggle with the colder weather so I thought it might be easier to put them in a double for the winter. With hindsight, I should have got an E3 in the first place but nevermind!

Just to say that popping the wheels on a Nipper is easy peasy, but you need to have no little ones in it, so probably not ideal.

FWIW I have one and love it (bought it when DS2 was born, then put it away as DS1 walked everywhere, and have now taken it out again for DS3 and DS2. It is so light and easy to manouvere makes walking a pleasure).

oh yes good old hindsight eh?!! dc2 will be able to go in the doubles seat at 6m but tbh i have my older ds in the doubles seat as he likes to get in and out so works better you would have to have doubles seat on top for now tho as dc2 would have to be laid back? Someone is selling an e3 on the for sale boards.
My older ds walks mostly everywhere but when it is raining or he's real tired its a godsend (or i want him controlled round the shops!!)

Easy enough for older child to scoot in and out of seat when in the lower position.

Had 20m and 8m in it at the weekend and as they slept at different times they both made use of the seat in the flat position tho with the side zips closed and the doubles seat on the top and we found that the sleeping bag that is in the main seat can remain under the child and zipped on at the bottom and pulled thru and up to cover the upper child.

Hmm - even the MB double is 74.5...think you will def need a tandem type.

Pippinella · 12/11/2008 10:36

The Phil and teds twin (side by side) is 73cms and despite being quite heavy (16kgs) is surprisingly light to manouevre. The nice thing about it is the nice upright seats and bumper bar, rather than those hammock style ones the Nipper has - I always liked the sound of the Nipper but knew my two nosey-parkers would have hated lying back so far all the time!
