if so...which one and would you recommend it?
dh wants one for christmas and I don't know where to start...

personally i think it will end up gathering dust in our already too small and cluttered kitchen but he ASSURES me this will not be the case
and waking up to the smell of baking bread does sound rather nice

CatIsSleepy · 07/11/2008 15:20

brown bread

arcticlemming · 07/11/2008 15:22

I have a panasonic, which is fab. Bread stays fresh for three days in a plastic bag.

Lovemyshoes · 07/11/2008 15:23

Yes I do, I don't use it as often as I should though.

When I do make bread etc, it is fab.

noolia · 07/11/2008 15:24

I use ours in phases, sometimes lots and then not for ages. We don;t find the bread ever gets a chance to go stale because we eat it v quickly!

CatIsSleepy · 07/11/2008 15:26

weird, i thought brown bread would keep longer than that!

still i guess fresh bread is so good we'll probably scoff it all really fast anyway

lovemyshoes, what make is yours?
lemming...how much did yours cost if you don't mind me asking?

I've got a panasonic b-maker and it's great. Can make any type of bread, has an overnight function and the bread keeps for 3 days (also in a plastic bag). I thought it would gather dust but I use it nearly every day (depends on busyness and bread eatage [am making up my own words emoticon]). Good too for things like pizza dough and brioche etc. Haven't made a cake in it yet though. Would recommend it as it is cheap, easy to use and you know what is in it. Do it.

I have a Panasonic and it is great - we use it about 5 out of 7 days. Takes 2 mins to do and bread is fine. We make wholemeal, mixed and French although there are other options. Wouldn't be without it now. Bread tastes good, and while it does go off after 2/3 days, it always concerned me when bread ws ok after a week - what was in it??

Also you know how much salt / sugar you are putting into it and no preservatives either. Although explaining that advantage to the French AP was interesting (preservatives in French = condom!)

CatIsSleepy · 07/11/2008 15:40

Panasonic SD 206- is quite old I think though. Got it from my Mum about 18mths ago.

shootfromthehip · 07/11/2008 15:49

Just looked at the links and am quite jealous- mine is nowhere near as stylish. Meant to say that I got mine secondhand so no idea how old my model is. It's super simple though.

CatIsSleepy · 07/11/2008 15:50

simple sounds good!
cheaper would be good too tbh
have only looked on amazon so far....may be other models elsewhere. might try John lewis website.
