Hello!
I am due to have baby in Jan but also due to have a major wrist operation a few months later - can anyone recommend a lightweight, easily manouverable and foldable travel system? Thanks.

I love my new bugaboo bee! I had a Jane travel system first time around and can't believe how light, small and manoeuvreable the bee is. You can clip a maxi-cosi car seat onto it, and the regular seat will lie flat so is fine for a newborn.

graco mirage is really light basic but light

With the bugaboo bee - can the baby lie facing you in the regular seat when put in the flat position?

rosie-yes the baby can face you lying flat. I found the Bee light, easy to push and its got that brilliant extendable handle too. Its so light I can carry DD up the stairs in it!

Anyone else recommend the Graco? Obviously there's quite a price difference between that and the Bugaboo!

I've got a Graco Mosaic and it is pretty good. Like you, I had to worry about buses and it fits quite well but you do have to get used to the back wheels being slightly bigger than the front.

Reading the reviews before we bought it, we were worried about having to replace the wheels early on but tbh I've been using it for 5 months so far, DS is a big baby and it has been fine. Much better than the original Graco I had when DD was a baby (which, incidentally, we chucked out for a small stroller thing).

Again, price was an issue for us but I didn't want tobuy something that DS would be in for a few months and we would then do away with. I think we paid about £170 for it and it came with the rain cover and the cosy toes thing.

The Bugaboo Chameleon is fantastic. Really light and a dream to steer.

The Bugaboo Frog (old model) is just as good and both are pretty easy to find second hand, if cost is an issue.

The graco oasis is lighter than some of the other models of graco. It has also got a big basket. I bought one for my sister and her new baby and they love it.

babyjjbaby · 03/11/2008 16:32

mirage is the lightest bout 7kgs

babs2008 · 04/11/2008 16:05

I love the Micralite Fastfold and my friend has the Baby Jogger City Mini both take the Maxi Cosi car seat and are 7 kilos or under plus fairly cheap.

naomi83 · 04/11/2008 19:43

have heard bugaboos are a nightmare to fold? silver cross dassle maybe? or baby jogger city mini is also fab. I've taken my friend's one out for a drive and it steers like a 3 wheeler but folds like a buggy!

ilovemyflipflops · 08/11/2008 21:02

I have a micralite fastfold too, i chose it because i have a back problem. It's light to lift in comparison to others and you can fold it with one hand. Oooh and it's a dream to manoeuvre

We are only just researching strollers and are very intrigued by the Bugaboo Bee. Is it just a marketing gimmick or is it really the best urban stroller? We live on the first flr of a London block of flats.
