Help! My DS (11 months) has worked out how to take out mothercare electrical socket covers and LOVES playing with the switches and holes. Agh! (I guess anything is fun if there's a "no" every time he goes near it) Clearly the mothercare covers don't work - anyone found any better ones?? Thanks so much.

not found any better but if its a help, in my sisters house, we ''lifted'' all the sockets up to about 4 foot above floor level. it actually makes it easier for my sister to use the sockets as she doesn't have to bend down but it also took temptation away from the kiddies.

what we did was to buy some blanking plates, trunking and a new surface mounted box and ran the new wire from the old box, up the trunking to the new box that was about 3 feet higher up. as she decorates each room we channel out the wall and bury the trunking in the wall and re-plaster. its been about 4 years and not all the trunking has been buried yet but we are getting there!!

only trouble is my mum is getting on a bit now and wants all her sockets higher up too so she doesn't have to stoop to plug things in she has stud walls though so it will be far easier as we can put the wire behind the wall straightaway, but still, she has around 20 sockets to lift up, might leave most of them till next year

We have these ones which are removed by slipping the top pin of the plug in - quite a tight fit and you have to pull hard, not sure if a toddler could do it - mine can't!

They also have this style, which look effective (until you loose the keys!)

We have the first ones Lionstar recomended, and as yet DD has not been able to remove them. I have quite long fingernails so tried seeing if I could prise them out with my fingertips. You can't. And as they are rounded, you can't grip and pull them out either. Genius

We used the mothercare ones where you need a spare protector to get them out - I couldnt get them out without a spare. The noral ones DS easily mastered but not this kind.
