These f*ckin ones with the dolls.

DD took the dolls out after 2 days to "keep them safe" - no excessive opening and closing etc.

The sole has now started crumpling and sliding down where the bend is!

I spent a small fortune on the things at the end of August - I kind of expected them to last until she grew out of them, not to be half dead by half term.

They are uncomfortable We can't put an insole in or they will then be too tight.

Would complaining to Clarks get me anywhere?

Ours did the same about 4 weeks ago - we took em back and they gave us new ones with a wider ridge and said same wouldnt happen - i can see it starting to happen on one so will wait till they are a bit more battered and take them back again! It is a crap gimmick in my opinion. They will change them - not fit for purpose...

I would imagine that Clarks won't be making these shoes again, everyone I have spoken with about them says how rubbish they are, even my 8 yr old dd!

I am now boycotting all Clarks shoes, startrite are soooo much classier

expatinscotland · 27/10/2008 09:44

Yikes.

The DDs can't wear Clark's shoes - they're too wide and both girls are C widths.

So it's even more expensive StartRites and Kickers round here.

NBheebieGeebies · 27/10/2008 09:46

I should think if this is a common problem, they will just accept them back without quibble.
But even so, they should take them back anyway as they are faulty.

NCbirdy · 27/10/2008 09:47

Shoes have to last 3 months by law (to be fit for the purpose for which they were supplied) as long as you have your receipt then they have to change them or offer a refund (I think they can choose which). Don't let it go over 3 months though as IME they don't care at all after that as they have no legal obligation to help!

I have stopped buying clarks as they keep falling to peices. I have opted for woolworths crappy shoes as they last longer

LostProphet · 27/10/2008 11:47

That's the problem - I don't have the receipt any more (or I can't find it anyway) and i paid cash so not even a credit card bill

I'll go back to the shop tomorrow and see what we can do.

It was the first time ever she has been allowed clarks for school as startrite have always been the better fit, but as there wasn't much in it with the shape this time, I agreed to her choosing.

She turned round the other day and told me she wanted the sensible shoes next time

In that case I would take the appproach of stating that they are no good and that this shouldn't be happening etc. Hopefully they will have had a few back for the same fault and be accomodating.

Good luck!

Fabulous Fabulous shop that is MATHEWS in Christchurch, Dorset! (Felt I should name and praise )

Not the teeniest problem - they are exchanging the for a more expensive pair of Startrite

So happy. No arguing, she had to go find the owner to check, but was fine - they are ordering in the shoes we need

I had the same problem with similar clarks shoes. I took them back and they replaced them with a different style.

Last term I got a much cheaper pair from Next, and they have been great.

Stupid idea to put dolls in the soles of shoes IMO.
