Can anyone answer a few questions about oilcloth wipe clean tablecloths?

Am considering on of these to disguise the horror that is our kitchen table.

I'm gathering from searches on the subject that oilcloth rathr than vinyl is the way to go and am coveting a few cath kidson designs.

But what drop do I need to make it hang properly over the edges of the table.I'm guessing that without sufficent weight the overhang will lie at a bit of an angle rather than vertically, and I'm only planning to have about 8 inches of drop at each end of the table. Is this enough?

Also anyone have any experience of stain resistance of the cath kidson oilcloth. I'd hate to spend so much and it still to stain.

Thanks

Mine was not Kath Kidson but I had about 10-15cm drop and it hung fine, it will stick out a bit at first but droops after a while, same if it slides and you reposition it it sticks out again. Mine was more vinyl rather than oil cloth so no advice on stains etc.

I have got several which I imagine are vinyl - wipe clean and fabulous. Our local hardware shop sells lots of different patterns for about £3-4 a metre - so 2m x fabric width is perfect for our table

I also covet the kath kidston ones but they are so much more £££

Its on my eventually list as the ones we have got are fine atm

They do smell rather odd at first - it fades!

I have to admit to owning one for each season which I (obviously!) rotate each season!
