Yorkiegirl (and others in the know too) - digital piano advise sought

Hi

We need to start looking for 6y DD after half term. She really does want to learn the piano, so need to start looking for a reasonable beginners digital piano (for Christmas), but one that will last her for a few years ideally.

What makes/models should we be considering?

And any where in Yorkshire area we could go and have a look?

DH and I are clueless as neither of us play.

(Sorry, YG - MSN not working properly for me again; keeps crashing)

Hi jura. Don't know why I am coming over all musical atm. Am practically tone deaf. I have been trying to teach myself the ukulele recently though. Very good fun.

Good luck finding a fab digital piano, btw, hula.

Hulababy · 14/10/2008 20:46

Yes, will def be getting one with weighted keys.

Fortunately the teachers we are currently aware of ae very happy to teach using digital pianos - phew!

Thanks.

We went shopping this weekend in Sheffield. Lovely helpful man in the shop. Spent ages with us going over different options and playing the pianos for us to hear, etc. And gave us his recommendations, quite honestly.

We have bought this ones: Casio PX-72O Compact

They also threw in a piano stool and headphones too, and have sent us a list of piano tutors for our area. They have sent it off to Father Christmas for us, until he delivers Christmas Eve

DD is VERY excited!

Have to say we were pleasantly suprised re. cost - DH thought it would be more. And it looks pretty good too.

How much did it cost please Hula?

Hulababy · 19/10/2008 22:10

It was £599, and he threw in a free stool and headphones.
