PLEEEEEEEASE help me find a travel system with this criteria....

Me and dh are having arguments about what travel system to get. All i want from it is :

must be available in a dark colour (none of that apple green malarcy for me!)
have a pushchair from birth
be comfy and well padded
have a car seat that can clip on
has one long handle (not 2)
and that when you go to fold it in the boot you are not left with having to take the pushchair bit off and putting a chassis in after.

The last bit is the big argument we keep having. Dh doesnt see the problem with having it dismantle it and put it back together each time i get it out the boot and considering its me that is going to have to do this every day (plus with a 2 yr old) i think that should be for me to have as a reasonable criteria. In laws are paying with max budget of £400.

Pleeease help as ds2 due next month!

All you can do is check I guess! It was quite putting me off getting another vauxhall, because I figured they'd all be the same, but I quite fancied a zafira...

I know you mention one handle, but surely if you have a bad back, it could be awkward pushing a one handler with a growing baby in it!

My favourite all time pushchair(we have had a few!) is the Mamas&Papas Pliko.
Great for a newborn thru to toddler and I think it may even now have a built in step for your toddler. Check out their website.

Plus easy to store indoors or in the car, its light and dead easy to push.

Hope that helps.

mad4mybaby · 14/10/2008 19:42

the main reason i want a one handled on is because i have a 2 yr old and dont want to have to keep putting reins on him. a one handled one is easier to push/manouerve when holding his hand

I've always prefered one handle to two (you can push a bugaboo with one finger!!!) and now dd is 21 months and very big and tall I struggle with strollers for this same reason.

I could not push my pliko one handed, the toddler step is built in, great unless the walk is a long one, would have thought ideal for school runs.

Silver cross dazzle so easy to push one handed, even when laden down with shopping bags. I personally would not like to use the carrycot for newborns as it looks a bit plasticky to me but as a buggy fab.

Think the streety sounds more suited, graco's are very plasticky and car seats have terrible write ups. I would not use one if you paid me but then some people feel that way about Bugaboos (until they use one sooooooooo good!!)

mad4mybaby · 14/10/2008 21:04

carrie, what one do you actually have or do you have them all?! Was thinking the chicco cto.1 trio, gracoo oasis travel systme city (do know what you mean about plasticky tho) amd the bebe confort streety travel system..

this www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10001&catalogId=1500001151&productI d=1500246981&langId=-1&engine=froogle&keyword=Baby+Jogger+City+Mini+Stroller so easy to push with one hand and hold toddler, folds like a joke whilst holding baby, fb sunshade. can get adapters for car seat, i think maxi cosi? my friend in the states raves about it

naomi83 · 14/10/2008 21:20

oh, and we have a pliko p3, love it, but def can't push it one handed!

carrielou2007 · 14/10/2008 21:26

mad4mybaby you should come over the the pushchair thread, we are all pram addicts...some people like their cars, some people like their tv's, I like my buggies. Dd is 21 months and has had many many buggies, it's just my thing!

I am being very strict and currently have Bugaboo Cam in grey and pink (I do tons of walking on my days off), silver cross dazzle black on black lives in boot of car, bought last week maclaren lulu guiness (has I love you all over it) just for holidays as very lightweight as selling my silver cross pop in candy.

The bug will go when dd is 2 as I love her still facing me but she is huge and feel a bit silly as she looks more like 3!!

mad4mybaby · 14/10/2008 21:30

theres a pushchair thread?? Oooh no i couldnt cope with all the choices hence my strict crieria at the beginning! Finding it v stressful!

I know, I bought a quinny buzz and a proper 3 wheeler (for running) before my dd was born. It was not until I had her that I found things out like my big 3 wheeler was fab but horrific to get in and out of the car. The raincover was excellent but if it was a 'not sure if it will rain or not'day there was no-where to put the raincover.

I thought the buzz was super funky but was just heavy and ugly and didn't realise I needed the carrycot.

I really really love having my dd facing me, so in a forward facing buggy having a little window on the hood is really important for me. Silly things like with a lot of buggies you can't hang a very big bag (like you need in the early weeks!!) on the puchair as it will either tip or slip down and drive you mad!

Have settled on all mine now and happy with them, but still love hearing other people's favourites!!

mad4mybaby · 15/10/2008 08:59

i made SUCH a mistake buying travel system for ds1 from mamas and papas and really dont want to do it again. Like the car seat for eg was way heavy and far too upright for ds plus the pram bit you couldnt just tip up to get up the curbs you had to literally almost pick it up! You learn though eh!

I had (still have) a Graco Quattro Tour Deluxe Travel System which was fine when I lived in a house but not so good when I moved to a flat. They are heavy and i've fallen down the stairs to the flat carrying the thing (folded not open). It's the only thing putting me off using it for the next baby. I really wish now that i'd got a Micralite with car seat.

mad4mybaby · 15/10/2008 17:39

too heavy for lugging up into a meriva? Or just stairs? Because of my size id struggle lugging any type up a flight of stairs!

OP posts:
BexieID · 15/10/2008 18:23

Just the stairs, and thats with it folded as well. I have a Mountain Buggy Urban now and was bumping Tom down the stairs yesterday and almost plunged him down them (wheel got stuck on the wall as it wasn't shifting). I have a dodgy left wrist as I smacked it into the wall when I fell with the Graco and, although i'm right handed, find it easier to push the buggy with my left hand! The oddity I am.

mad4mybaby · 15/10/2008 18:31

no i think thats how ill be with this ds as i prefer to hold ds1 right handed!

ImnotMamaGbutsheLovesMe · 15/10/2008 18:33

I had a Britax Practicale carrycot and it was fab. Very easy to use and I had a section. I used the car seat attached on it once as I felt that the baby should be properly flat and it is a blue colour. For sale if interested.

AccidentalMum · 15/10/2008 19:32

Jane Carrera would be ideal I think. The handle will accomodate a buggyboard (they make their own but it doesn't allow you to recline the seat) if you like without stretching. The Anniversaria (sp?!) model with the slimmer wheels is more nippy

naomi83 · 16/10/2008 12:31

oh, and baby jogger city mini takes a buggy board.
