What is the cheapest way to have broadband/phone at home?

We currently have it through sky as it was cheaper than BT. We get braodband free and inclusive calls for £5 a month. But this is ONLY because we have a sky tv package. So, if we want to save money and get rid of Sky package, could we get a deal on phone/braodband that would be worth it? Or would it cost as as much as the Sky tv package so it is worth sticking with that?

Just for information, there is no cable broadband where we are. It would have to come through my phone line I think.

virgin media is cheaper

my sister is doing it this way as she doesnt want any tv

(where i live i cant even get normal channels and no way free view so i HAVE t have sky and pay £17 / month for sky, phone (inc eve & w.end calls) / b.band + £10.50 to BT

so £27.50 total
(I also pay £13 month for my mobile and get loads and loads of mins and texts, i dont use them all but do use more than virgin let you have)

my sister will get the Virgin phone / broadband and mobile package which i think is £30 month but includes line rental and she then has 300 mins + lots of mobile texts too

Interesting thread. We are about to move back to the UK after 3 years away so very out of touch. We are thinking about the BT home hub. Anyone use that?

I asked my brother about what he uses and he recommended Virgin, said they were great.

The virgin deal is 300 mins and 300 text and then telephone and broadband for £30 per month.

O2 broadband is great and only 7.50 per month if you have an O2 mobile as well. You need a BT line.

Hi Bloss - I thought i recognised you on another thread Yuo are right, about 8 years now, and for me 3 babies later!

I do not want to tie into a mobile package as I have just renegotiated mine (£10 a month yippee!) and am tied in for 18 months.

I looked at talktalk today, but that did not seem any cheaper.

Its a pain really as there must be a cheaper way, but it is very hard to compare.

The cheapest Virgin deal is ridiculously slow, though. We just changed to the free Sky one and it's much quicker!
