I want a e wheeler for my son, he's a big boy, but not walking yet. I need a pushchair he can grow into and is comfortable to sleep in.
Any ideas or anyone got a pushchair for sale?
Thanks

Jane Slalom Pro. Nice big wide seat - inflatable tyres - disc brakes (always seem to impress men!).

Two Left Feet always seem to have good offers on them.

XTS twister the back rest is very high indeed and a decent amount of leg room. My 5 year old slept in our recently fully reclined.

I find that most of them the back rests are too short.

I bought a mountain buggy Ranger (New Zealand make). It is a brilliant buggy for big children and will take up to about 5 stone and has extra long leg room. The cover can be completely removed for washing, It has a basket underneath and folds down flat to go in a car boot. Brilliant off roading! Couldn't recommend it enough.

a teutonia spirit s3. it has a really wide and long seat. there is great suspension and the tyres are made out of a foam rather than air so you never get a puncture! really easy to push and the seat can face both directions. hth.

def recommend a mountain buggy, loads of reviews on MN too. Brill, my 5 year old can fit in it, light to push and easy to change covers if needed.

SparklyGothKat · 07/10/2008 00:18

also say Mountain buggy. I put my 7 year old in mine to see just how big a child can be to fit in it, and she fitted in it comfortably and had headroom too.

Nicky79 · 08/10/2008 14:59

Thanks Everyone! I'll look into the mountain buggy, but I remember these being quite expensive?

You can pick up one on ebay for a reasonable price, sometimes you can get lucky and get it cheap

EnchantedWithEdwardCullen · 08/10/2008 19:42

Quinny speedi seats are HUGE!

postLady · 08/10/2008 21:46

baby jogger - i have one for my ds who is 18 mnths and very big - there is loads of room for growth (up to 75lb's!). alsohere we were undecided between the mountain buggy and this but in the end it came down to fact this was cheaper and the quality felt similar to the mountain buggy which we used on holiday. we have had bugaboo and micralite toro previously for ds (yes i'm a buggy addict! ) and this one suits us best!

Miyazaki · 08/10/2008 21:47

Mountain Buggy. Very good. And good resale.

Phoenix · 08/10/2008 21:50

Mothercare Urban Detours are good, i love mine. Ds is 2.8yo and we still use it for him.

lisad123 · 08/10/2008 23:32

my friend has a quinny spedi and it s hard to push.

gigglewitch · 08/10/2008 23:36

another one for the urban detour
DD almost 3 is going to fit in it for at least another 18mo and it is a dream to push

mamadiva · 09/10/2008 21:31

I have a mamas and papas 03 sport. I had the exact same reason for buying it as my son is a very large 2YO probably the height iof a 3YO.

It was only £140 with raincover brand new

Seat is wide, hood is tall and it is a straight seat if you know what I mean its not dipped back bucket style.

Its this on ebut in akhaki green colour Best pram ever to push!

mckenzie · 09/10/2008 21:41

yet another vote for the Urban Detour. And it just so happens I'm about to try and sell my one! I can send you a picture Nickt79 if you are interested. I used it for the school runs and walking from home only (I had DS's old urban detour in the boot of the car) so it's in very good condition.

amazonianwoman · 10/10/2008 11:03

Definitely a Mountain Buggy Urban.

My tall 4.4 DD can still easily fit in it.

I've never found/tried a buggy that is easier to push. It can cope with anything

marmadukescarlet · 10/10/2008 11:11

postlady in case you return...

I'm sure the baby jogger was the one rec'd to me by a local independent retail which has now gone bust. I'm sure they told me it went up to 75lbs. There is no info on this on the website you linked to - just birth to 4yrs. It was one which folded using a handle in the seat, there were two 'standards' a smaller/ciryish one which was for up to less weight and the bigger one. The old style didn't have a bumper bar, but the newer ones did (all clues to see if anyone can guess) I'd thought it was called a first sport, but my memory is appalling.

I have a 4 yr old with SN, we live in the middle of nowhere with no pavements and the SN maclearen just wouldn't cope with the lanes/fields.

He has outgrown his current off roader (16kg limit) and we are desperate.

How upright is the seat? He has low muscle tone so finds many of the trad 3 wheelers too reclined. In fact one of the ones we looked at was for up to 10 yr olds said not suitable for persons with postural problems!

Pretty please for some advice

postLady · 10/10/2008 12:13

Marmeduke - here is acomparison chart which may help - i have the city classic which takes combined weight (of child and storage) 100 lbs. The seat is slightly reclined but not too much - i guess it would be better to see one in person if you can. Is it possible that the smaller one mentioned was the City Mini? (as this seems to be the only one that takes less weight (50lbs). The City classic does not come with a bumper bar but will take one. This is not the lightest buggy (compared to a maclaren or micralite) but fine for lifting in and out the car. The main thing for us was the size as my ds was already outgrowing the micralite. He is very tall. My dd (5) has sat on the footrest a few of times and it pushed no problems. Also the adjustable handles can go very high so if you are tall it is great. Hope this helps

Geepers · 10/10/2008 12:22

I have a Mountain Buggy Urban and it's fab. My 7 year old could use it if necessary - he doesn't, but he tested it out when it arrived.

AnAngelWithin · 10/10/2008 12:28

mountain buggy urban! look on ebay. i got mine brand new for £235 which was a bargain from a shop on there! i love it! virtually bombproof!!

SparklyGothKat · 10/10/2008 12:32

I love my mountain buggy, its not my everyday buggy as I have a Bugaboo, but I use it when we go to our caravan and the beach, also the farm. Its also for when Callum gets too big for the Bugaboo

largeginandbloodymary · 10/10/2008 12:37

SGK you got a bugaboo!!!! How did you manage that?

SparklyGothKat · 10/10/2008 12:39

I brought a baby jogger for £30, sold for £140, then sold my pram for £160. At the time Mothercare were selling off their 2007 models for £277, so brought one with the money lol. The MB was Misdee's and I am paying it off as and when I sell things on ebay.
