Cheap extra carseat for age 4.5+ ?

Think I need an extra one for when the DDs have friends in the car. What's the cheapest option?

I have used one for my dd since she was about 4. The idea is just to get them the child the right height for the seatbelt to work properly. I feel comfortable using it, but then when I was little my dad's car didn't even have seatbelts!!!

Well yes that's true, I remember rolling around in the back of my dad's car as a child too! 70s childhoods eh!

There are a couple of Britax Hiliners on Ebay (new ones), £45 including delivery - they did well in Which? testing though they've been superceded now.

I got a Ladybird booster seat with 'arms' in Woolies for about £10. It's been used quite often to give short distance lifts to dd's friends (age 5 onwards).

Yeah I guess the booster cushion type thing makes sense for short trips (and slow speeds, in London traffic). Will see what DH thinks (medic - seen a lot of crash victims in his time so errs on the side of caution - if he thinks it's ok I'll be happy).

Out of interest - people who, like us, have two highback seats in the back of the car - where do you put the backless booster when you give someone a lift?

we usually stick one of the high-backs in the middle and put the other dc behind the passenger seat iyswim
