with big enough 'pockets' that I can put little treats in for the ds's.
Would prefer to buy online,if anyone has come across any yet.
Thanks.

here

If you click on the Christmas store and scroll down there are a few Advent calendars...

There should be a few quilting shops who will have their Christmas fabric in store..

Bubbaloo · 26/09/2008 14:00

Thanks.
Some of the fabrics are lovely but I'd like one already made up.

Have you looked at Letterbox? Will try and link.

wessexgirl · 26/09/2008 14:05

Hmm, maybe not Letterbox, couldn't find anything. I'm sure I've seen one quite recently though .

LostGirl · 26/09/2008 14:05

There's this one, is this the sort of thing or did you want something more 'biblical'?

Bubbaloo · 26/09/2008 14:18

Oooh yes, that's the kind of thing but maybe a bit more christmassy.

OP posts:
silverfrog · 26/09/2008 14:20

how about this?

Bubbaloo · 26/09/2008 14:25

That one's really nice but I didn't really want the little decorations that come with it.I suppose I could just leave them on the tree and fill the pockets with my own things, but it's rather pricey aswell.

OP posts:
silverfrog · 26/09/2008 14:28

more traditional?

I sympathise - I've been after one that is both child friendly and has logevity, is christmassy but not gaudy etc etc for a couple of years now!

silverfrog · 26/09/2008 14:28

Lakeland also have a couple in usually, but not fabric ones I don't think.

Bubbaloo · 26/09/2008 14:34

Thanks.
That one is also nice but it's the little decorations that put me off.
Would prefer christmas tree/reindeer/snowman/father christmas design,I think.

Bubbaloo - my SIL makes these, would you be interested ?

midnightexpress · 26/09/2008 14:42

Funny you should mention this - I was at a National Trust for Scotland property this morning looking at just the thing. I was too to actually buy one in September though but they were:

Dark red felt, long and thin with two little white numbered pockets per row (so twelve rows long iyswim) with bells along the bottom (ie real ones) and the top was either a reindeer or a Father Xmas. The pockets would fit one or two small treats (maybe a sweet or two) nothing big.

Hard to describe, but quite ginghamy/scandiwegian

And about 11 quid I think.

They might have them in NT shops south of the border.

Just had a look on their website, can't see anything Christmassy on there, but how cute is he?

Bubbaloo · 26/09/2008 14:42

Yes,I don't see why not.
Any chance you can please CAT me so she can email me some pics of what she can do?

OP posts:
MaryAnnSingleton · 26/09/2008 15:18

she's on holiday this week (until 7th Oct) but I can see if my niece has any pictures she could send - am not signed up for CAT but could post them on my profile,if I get any !

Bubbaloo · 26/09/2008 15:20

That's great-track me down once you've stuck them on your profile.

MaryAnnSingleton · 26/09/2008 16:39

will do - she made me a lovely quilt for my birthday and one for ds when he was little ! Think the advent calendars are quite trad. looking as far as I can recall !

MaryAnnSingleton · 26/09/2008 21:15

well what a coincidence - my niece is going to pick up a calendar for a friend at her mum's tomorrow and has said she'll measure and photograph one !

clouded · 26/09/2008 21:26

Just seen this.

Bubbaloo - I have one that I am about to get rid of, as my boys (16 and 13) are really a bit old for it now!

It's in the shape of a Christmas tree, and with little stuffed figures that you take out of the pockets and stick on to the body of the tree (there are little velcro patches on the figures).

I'll happily send it to you for nothing, if you like?

My mum bought it for the boys several years ago, and it's lovely!

BecauseImWorthIt · 26/09/2008 23:46

The pockets are big enough to put small gifts in, btw. The last couple of years I have put little bars of chocolate into each one.
