I am fed up buying face creams with wonderful claims to find out that they are:
a) not making any difference to the appearance of my skin .
b)quite often after a few days use start to sting when applied.
I am on a bit of a budget as well but if you think it is amazing I will consider it.
My skin is normal/dry and has fine lines
Thanks and looking forward to your replies so I can make a dash to boots soon.

Diprobase. I have very dry skin and some eczema and it's fab on your face. It smells slightly medicinal but not so you would really notice.

Olay - wouldn't trust anything else.

I have started using ebay to buy my beauty stuff. If you go by the usual rules - pick someone with really good feedback, check details etc - it is brilliant. Last purchase was Clarins Hydra-balance Serum for a fiver - less than a third of the RRP.

Frieda · 25/02/2005 19:57

Oooh, great tip, snafu ? I wouldn't have thought of that!

expatinscotland · 25/02/2005 20:15

Oil of Olay Regenerist Serum. If you're a Costco member, you can buy two bottles for £27. Lasts for ages and really gives results.

hmm beware of ebay though - just looked, a tube of beauty flash balm is bid up to £18 + 1.75 postage and you can buy it in superdrug for less than that!

frogs · 25/02/2005 20:49

Not in Superdrug in 'Ackney, CD.

I used L'Oreal Visible Results since it came out, and found it vg. tho' it stopped working for me recently and I had to move onwards and upwards (Eve Lom and Clarins).

I get my beauty stuff from Slapiton and find it vg.

directcosmetics.co.uk sell branded skin care (clarins etc) cheaper than in the shop. they will not always have what you're looking for but it's worths a try

Guerlain Issima Midnight Secret - it is £50 for a small bottle , but I buy other stuff and then come back to it. They are usually good about giving a sample to try on the Guerlain counters before buying.

This has reminded me, I must start another thread about something.

I you're after a great cleanser at a bargain price Boots Time Delay do a fab copy of Eve Loms cleansing balm/muslin cloth combo - Eve Lom one sells for about £40 quid I think - for £9 - they've recently changed the packaging and their selling off their old packaging stock half price right now so you can get a pot for around £4. I love it and so does my DH!

colette · 28/02/2005 11:12

Thanks treacletart , I will have a look at it.

I started with Origins 'Night-a-mins' a couple of weeks ago and found it really good.

skidge · 28/02/2005 17:58

I know it isn't a moisturiser, but I have just discovered a fantastic (works for me) pore-refining mask with green french clay among its ingredients. The product is from Burt's Bees. At Christmas my sister bought me a trial pack containing several products. Not only do they smell delicious they also made my skin feel and (I thought) look great.
