I have the Babyliss 230 Pro straighteners and they are great. I have used my sisters GHD's a few times and I can find no difference between the two, apart from the price.
I also have thick, coarse wavy/curly hair but I can get it silky smooth and dead straight with the Babyliss ones .

BaByliss 2085U Pro 230 Straightener (25% longer ceramic tourmalinecoated plates) it's in the length on this one.!

I bought these two months ago for infer £30 on an offer with Tecos online (now gone back up in price).

So far very good for long, thick wavy hair.

Hate to go with the flow of ghd's.

that's meant to read as under £30, however still a bargain and great value at under £60

I also own GHDs. Have had them for 6 years and have got wavy hair. They're the only ones that can keep my hair straight whilst damp.

Tresemme protector spray is good, or the Avon one.
