Assuming i take a load of washing straight out of the washing machine and stick it in the tumble dryer how long should I expect to take to dry?

TIA

Im not planning on using mine alot but owing to the permanant damp/dull cloud/ intermittant showers and no heating on yet I cant get anything dry!

Its driving me crazy so have succumbed and bought one to catch up initially and then just when we need to thereafter

the higher your spin speed, the drier your clothes will be coming out of your washing machine. They will then take a shorter time to tumble dry. I just put my washing straight into the td, after a 1600 spin, and a full load takes less than 1 hour. Jeans etc get aga dried, so don't know how long they take.

Jacobsprincess it might be worth changing the thermostats and seeing if that works - they are quite cheap and easy to change. We found a local hardware/electrical store, gave them the model number of our tumbler and they found us the correct thermostats.

Then DH took the back of the tumbler off, unscrewed the thermostats and replaced them with the new ones (you can always try Googling the model of your tumbler and 'change thermostats'). Be careful not to press the thermostats, they are sort of convex and if you press them you can break the contacts (we learnt this the hard way!)

That's how it was for our tumbler and I think most are similar.

I am soooooo utterly cross with my choice of TD - hotpoint - I thought that was supposed to be a good brand!

If I put it on for 80 mins with about 3kg (half my washing machine load) it comes out wet

If I put in half a load and switch it to cupboard dry it comes out wet and takes hours

What a waste of £234

Yurtgirl mine is a Hotpoint too, and it's not that great however I have 'learnt' how to get the best out of it! Here are my Top Tips LOL

Spin your wash on the fastest spin possible, then if it's things like towels, jeans, thich cottons etc spin them again.

Sort out your wash load depending how thick/wet the things are eg fleece and thin cottons will need less drying time. The sensor in the tumbler will stop drying when it senses things are dry and if you have a mixture of fabrics it will stop drying when the first things are dry, not all things. So dry heavier, wetter things separately.

I put everything on the 'cupboard dry' setting or it's too damp.

If it stops and things are still damp, shake them out and put them back in again - if they have any areas that are dry (even if it's not the whole garment) the sensor will stop it.

Oops that should read thick cottons not thich.

Just a note to those whose TD's are working but not heating - mine has a trigger that goes off when the filter needs cleaning - to reset you have to pull the machine out and there's a red button on the back to reset it - after cleaning the filter...just a thought?
