cleaning le creuset

anyone know of a way to clean these blinking heavy casserole pots and pans, whilst i like the look they are a nuisance to clean. you cant put them in dishwasher or can you?

Bit of bleach and water in, and leave to soak.
Just moved into a house with a d/washer and regularly put mine through.
Seem ok.

I dishwash mine. One of them is beginning to look a bit knackered, but since I've had it since I was 19 - 22 years - I reckon it's doing better than me, tbh.

What is the best way to clean my pans?
Everyday washing can be done in hot sudsy water, rinsing and drying thoroughly. Occasional cleaning with Le Creuset's Pots and Pans specialist cleaner will condition the surface and remove any light discoloration caused by strong colours in foods, curries for example.

Is Le Creuset cookware dishwasher safe?
Yes, pans with plastic or metal handles may be washed in a dishwasher. Pans with wooden handles should be washed by hand as described above.

I think they've got a lifetime guarantee, so if the enamel wears away, they'll redo it for you. (Or is that an urban myth?)

BTW, just seen them in a fab new colour...can't remember what though, just that it was nice (duhhh!!!!) Better than my lurid orange, although that is starting to look quite funky in a retro sort of way.

Also....you can buy then for 1/2 the price in French supermarkets.Called 'Cousances' but same thing (swears sister who has lived in france for 20 years.)

Once, many years ago, I bought a Cousances frying pan in a French supermarket and then carried it all the way home from holiday in my backpack.

I use a tip from Kim & Aggie from 'How Clean Is Your House?'. Boil the kettle and pour the contents into the Le Creuset pan. Let it sit till cool, then wash with Fairy and a plastic-bristled brush.

I put them in the dishwasher and haven't noticed any fading or wear at all. Moondog, the orange is fabulous and retro!

The non-stick does go in the dishwasher eventually, I notice from the little pan an ex-boyfriend gave me after I'd chucked him.

MI!!! Just the sort of thing the Moondog siblings would do!!! lol!!
My sister used to bring huge haunches of ham home in her rucksack when she was studying in Spain, and once found a double bed in the street in Toulouse and carried it all the way home to the garret her and her dh shared as newly weds. (Then she found a beggar girl in the street and took her home and let her sleep in it for a week while they slept on the floor.)
I swear that is true!!! She is small but strong as an ox.

The pans are heavy, aren't they? My mother refuses to wash them and curses the day I ever received them (i.e., my wedding - a topic for another day). She claims she is not able to lift them. My SIL swears that food tastes better when cooked in the Le Creuset. Does anyone agree?

Mine have got wooden handles and I put them in the dishwasher. Have had them almost 12 years and still going strong.

I agree, Almost! I LOVE my Le Creusets and am still 'collecting' pieces. I like the orange ones b/c they're kitschy. I don't have a dishwasher but even if I had I would still wash my Le Creusets by hand.

I've got a gorgeous kitschy orange casserole, and some blue stuff too. I love them, even though they are hellish heavy. I think red is the new colour? and it's lovely.

I take the wooden handles off mine and then put the pans in the dw. No-one washes dishes in this house

Casseroles with baked on brown get a dose of milton every now and again - or dissolved denture cleaning tablet solution

They're not so bad if there's n/thing else in the sink. Of course, it'd be a lot easier in a Belfast sink - sighs whimsically. . .

My best meals ever were in Le Creuset stuff cooked on an Aga (old house...sigh)
BTW, those Belfast sinks are a waste of time. had a double one. they're too big for the average dishwashing session and also a bugger to keep clean.
