All of you with a Phil & Ted's, where the hell do you put your shopping/changing bag?!

I had practically made my mind up about getting a P&T for when DC3 arrives as DD2 will only be 16 months BUT then I have been looking at other mums using them and realised, there is absolutely NOWHERE to put your shopping!

I walk into our local town or village and do a lot of my shopping on foot, I usually hang it off the handles of my stroller or I have clips on my Bugaboo and I hang my changing bag off the handles as well but there is no way you could do that with the P&T as bags would hit the baby in the doubles kit seat.

I know you can get pannier bags but that doesn't solve the shopping.

So, do you just not take it shopping?

nicolamumof3 · 02/09/2008 21:47

sorry...

PInkyminkyohnooo · 02/09/2008 21:57

Nope that's not it, it's this

I have the hangbag for my purse etc. too.

Swampster · 03/09/2008 16:48

That's just a foamy carabiner!

2point4kids · 03/09/2008 16:59

I do buggy buddy and pannier bags too!

PInkyminkyohnooo · 03/09/2008 17:33

Yes that's exactly what it is- a black carabiner with a foam bit on it... I come from a family of mountaineers so I know what it is!
but it only cost a couple of quid and it just has a clip mechanism rather than a screw over bit and it moves alot more easily, and because it's a carabiner it doesn't ping off the handlerbars and disappear like regular buggy clips. It works a treat.

Thanks ladies for all your help! You really have been helpful.

One final question are you glad you bought your P&T?

OP posts:
nicolamumof3 · 03/09/2008 19:41

Yes i am! I used it properly today for the first time, and so wish i had bought it a year ago when ds3 was born, its the lightest best double i've had, so easy to push. Im glad i got an unusual colour too.

pgwithnumber3 · 03/09/2008 19:49

How old are your DC nicola?

OP posts:
nicolamumof3 · 03/09/2008 19:50

the two youngest are 2.8yr and 14m.

Swedes · 03/09/2008 19:50

I have two panniers. They are brilliant.

pgwithnumber3 · 03/09/2008 20:07

So there are only 14 months between your youngest!? I salute you. How did you find it? I am worried how I will manage two little uns as well as DD1 (6).

OP posts:
nicolamumof3 · 03/09/2008 20:24

um i have to work that out again as theres exactly 18m between them!! And its been far easier than i ever thought it would be i have a 9yr old as well! All boys

sweetkitty · 03/09/2008 20:31

I love my P&T have had it for 7 weeks now and is fab. What I love is that we have a spare seat in the car if DD2 is with me or like today I dropped her off at nursery then used it as a single for DD3. I carry my change bag over my shoulder and use parcel shelf for shopping or carry it.

PInkyminkyohnooo · 03/09/2008 21:04

pgwithnumber3 yes I've been very happy with it. Had it for two years now. My two are 16 months apart and I'm due no.3 in November, so it continues to be useful.

Swampster · 03/09/2008 21:53

Love mine - and they have improved a lot in the four years since I got it. Borrowed my friend's year-old one and it was even lovelier than mine.

Washersaurus · 03/09/2008 22:00

I love my P&T sport too - I use one pannier as change bag and the other I keep flat in the bottom of the basket for when I go shopping (don't drive).

I manage to fit all my shopping in the basket and/or the other pannier bag - but with both panniers filled, I find I really have to head straight home as the buggy becomes a bit street/shop unfriendly with the width (people start to glare as you pass them and bump their legs )

whyme2 · 03/09/2008 22:09

I love my P&T. I use a buggybuddy and the storage underneath v roomy but a little difficult to access with a young baby in place, I wouldn't recommend putting anything on the hood as is can drop on the baby. Nearly concussed my 10 day old DD on our first outing with my 4. I use a little shoulder bag for keys, purse..

blithedance · 04/09/2008 11:43

Have the Phil&Teds bacpac (rucksack) which can hang on the handle or be carried like a normal rucksack. It has brilliant little webbing loops that go on the handle with a dog-lead clip on each.

You'd be surprised what you can fit in the parcel tray, obviously access is a little difficult when the flat-bed is down but we managed somehow. Once baby is sitting up his legs are so short that you still have the shopping tray to use for a good while.

The advantage of the Phil and Teds is that it's so sturdy you can hang almost anything on it. I've just walked back from school this morning with DS1's wooden bike slung from the pushchair handle by putting the long strap through its wheels.

PInkyminkyohnooo · 04/09/2008 14:09

lol. The amount of stufff you can caryy obviously expands greatly once on of the children vacates the seat on occaison, as the back seat it an excellent dumping ground. The volume of stuff we carried down to the beach this holiday on our P&T was quite a achievement!

pgwithnumber3 · 04/09/2008 22:11

So the P&T is the noughties version of the pack horse then Pinky!

OP posts:
PInkyminkyohnooo · 04/09/2008 22:42

I think so! You need a double pram to be a tough workhorse, though, I think.

nicolamumof3 · 04/09/2008 23:06

sounds good to me!

pgwithnumber3 · 05/09/2008 07:24

Now, should I wait for the Dash version or get a good deal on the Sport?

OP posts:
nicolamumof3 · 05/09/2008 08:18

When are you due? it may be worth waiting til the dash comes out anyway as then the sport will become cheaper?
