all of you who have used these... which is the best one? how did you get on with it?
We think that ds has reflux, and the vast majority of the time he won't go in his crib as it seems to be causing him a lot of discomfort.
Thought I might try a sling as he is much happier when I am holding him... any advice?

i have used the ergo sling (an american brand, ordered on the net) since my boy was 7 months. he's now 17 months, weighs 2 stone, and i still use it. it's completely brilliant, cos weight is carried on my waist and not shoulders/back.

i have used a hug a bub and a moby wrap since dd3 was born 6 weeks ago. These seem to be exactly the same, except that the moby wrap is about half the price of the hug a bub. Tese are both very comfortable and keep the baby upright. There is a web site called Earthkind Babies that gives advice on the different types of slings - I have a lower back problem so I found this really useful. (the baby bjorn has always given me backache).

baby bjorn, worth all the money.
I could do it one-handed in the end (handy when you have 3 children). Carried all mine in it (not all at once lol) until they were 9-10 mo.
Mine is about 5+ yrs old now, the newer model has more padding etc and looks even better.

I had a tricotti sling which is just 2 tubes of heavy duty jersey material. Was great cos you could actually take it off (carefully) and wrap baby in it asleep. both my girls loved it. and you could feed with it on to.

And i forgot to say we have a baby bjorn , which is great cos dh will wear it to. both girls loved that to.

i used tomy verona, very comforable and 4 positions, but it was quite awkward to get on and do all the clips up as you have to poke them through d hooks and support your baby, good feature is it comes with a weathersheild which was great for us as we are out and about alot.

We used Baby Bjorn and Wilkinet. Baby Bjorn definately best as so easy to put on & off but Wilkinet good for very tiny ones. Dh was always happy to use Baby Bjorn especially if we were out shopping - he hates shopping with pushchairs. My s-in-law used our Baby Bjorn for hers and we will be getting it back shortly for no.2

Are we talking sling or baby carrier? My DS loved the Tomy Zanzibar we had, would fall asleep in it most of the time......then he got huge and I stopped using it when he hit 25lbs. It was comfy, snuggly and wonderful, it has a strap for a toy to be fastened to it and I would pop round everywhere with him in it. It was fairly easy to pop him in and out of it.

BTW he's 19 months and 2.5 stone now, he's becoming a bit large to lug about when he's tired. Does anyone have any suggestions for a huge toddler carrier?

bensmum3 · 22/02/2005 19:32

mummymonster, I posted down below about my Ergo, my ds is about 13kg, and I can still walk a fair distance comfortably with him in it, it carries him almost in a piggy back position, which is great, when it's pouring with rain he can just snuggle down into my back.
I also have a bushbaby carrier which is very heavy and not at all comfy in comparism.

I have a Maya wrap that I use at home and a Tomy Freestyle fleece carrier for outdoor. They both have excellent support for the parents' back, Maya is better for the back of the baby. However, Tomy does not allow the baby to stay in a horizontal position: do you know of any carrier that does? Thanks

Any suggestions, for baby carriers/slings for ladies with large boobs?

KMaurice · 29/02/2008 13:54

The Hug a Bub looks great but complicated to tie and isn't it very warm having all that fabric tied around you?!? Almost no need to wear a top!

Has anyone tried the BabaSling or Premaxx from Mothercare?
